Letter to the EditorNorth American Union a threat to freedom
TO THE EDITOR:
The more I study about the North American Union the more gravely concerned I become. The merging of our government with the governments of Canada and Mexico would have the most devastating effect on all that we hold dear as Americans. Gone would be the founding principles of our Declaration of Independence. Gone would be the “chains of the Constitution that bind men down from mischief” as Thomas Jefferson described them. Gone would be any hope of security once our borders are laid open. And gone would be our prosperity and all the freedoms and benefits it has brought us. Thanks to the North American Free Trade Agreement and the Security and Prosperity Partnership, this merger has already begun to take shape ... all without the approval of Congress and the American people. And it is being done with our tax dollars. Anyone interested in examining the evidence of the progress of this treasonous plan will be invited to a meeting I am sponsoring. Lacy Texarkana, Texas Kudos to Hall, staff TO THE EDITOR: After saving for a trip to Italy for almost seven months, it was very discouraging to me to realize that a backlog in passport processing would stop me from going on my beloved trip. I thought about who I could turn to and realized Congressman Ralph Hall has always been a very helpful source over my years working in newspapers. So when I called his office I found Tom Hughes, one of his staffers, to be at my service. For weeks Mr. Hughes kept me in the loop about what was going on with my passport and said he was getting calls from left and right from others in the same boat as me. Although at one point this summer every third call Hughes was receiving was about this matter, he treated me like an individual and treated my passport as an issue of importance. So I just wanted to thank Tom Hughes of Congressman Hall’s office and to tell everyone that if they want to know good people, Hughes is one of them. Becky Bell Texarkana, Texas |
