U.S. House candidate will make a local stop

Lee McQueen, an Independent candidate seeking Arkansas' District 4 U.S. House of Representatives seat, will make a campaign stop Thursday in Texarkana.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., McQueen will host a meet and greet at Texarkana Public Library's David Nelson Meeting Room.

The event opens with refreshments at 5:30 p.m. McQueen will speak at 6 p.m. and take questions from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

McQueen's campaign platform, issues affecting the 4th District and current U.S House legislation will be discussed.

She describes her campaign as a "Bernie Sanders-style" candidacy.

Her involvement with the political realm began with volunteer work for the 1988 Jesse Jackson presidential campaign.

Her family has lived in the Texarkana and Little Rock areas for more than 100 years.

McQueen writes fiction, nonfiction and public affairs essays. She also performs editing and research and has been a librarian and substitute teacher, according to her website.
