Lacey Middlebrooks joins Columbus staff as an assistant coach

COLUMBUS-Lacey Middlebrooks, former Liberty-Eylau softball standout, was named as the newest member of Columbus State University's softball staff.
Middlebrooks will serve as an assistant coach, with primary responsibilities surrounding the Lady Cougar pitching staff. She finished high school at Liberty-Eylau, where she led the Lady Leopards to Austin and a second-place finish in the 3A state softball tournament as a junior. After knee surgery, Middlebrooks missed most of her senior season.
Middlebrooks joins the Lady Cougars after two seasons on staff at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. She is a former collegiate star at the University of Tulsa.
"I'm so excited to join the CSU family and start working with Coach Huskisson and the team," Middlebrooks said. "I look forward to competing and continuing the tradition of success in the softball program and at Columbus State University."
Before her work at Northeastern State, Middlebrooks spent the 2014 season as the pitching coach at the University of Buffalo. In her one year at Buffalo, the softball team set its all-time high for wins with 30.
Over her four-year career, three with Tulsa, she totaled 60 wins and more than 500 innings in the circle. She hit .296 with 13 home runs and 76 RBIs for the Golden Hurricane.
Middlebrooks was a two-time NFCA All-Midwest Region selection and earned Conference USA co-Pitcher of the Year honors in her junior year.
