Twins, Acadiana tie in eighth inning, 4-4

Losing at home with Trey Jeans on the mound could be disastrous for the Texarkana Twins' playoff prospects in the Texas Collegiate League.
Acadiana (9-1) was close to adding to its second round lead Wednesday at George Dobson Field until the Twins rallied for four runs in the seventh inning at deadline to tie the score, 4-4.
Three Acadiana relievers threw 48 pitches, walking three and yielding hits to Chad McKinney, Gunner Halter and Troy Black to make it 4-3.
The Cane Cutters' fourth pitcher was Justin DeMary, who inherited a bases loaded situation with one out. He struck out Alex Rodriguez on three pitches, but walked home the tying run after throwing eight pitches to Jaxxon Grisham.
Aggressive baserunning was a plus for the Cane Cutters, but not for Texarkana, which had a runner picked off at first, and another thrown out trying to steal. Meanwhile, Acadiana stole third three times, twice setting up runs.
Gabe Montenegro reached safely on an infield error to start the Cane Cutters' third. He moved up on a grounder, and then stole third before scoring on Trenton Trosclair's double, the second of his three hits in the game.
Trey Morgan doubled down the right field line to start the fourth, but was promptly gunned down by the Twins' McKinney trying to steal third. Gavin Bourgoeis walked and advanced to second on a ground out. He stole third and scored on Montenegros' two-out single to left.
The Cane Cutters' made it 4-0 in the sixth when Jonathon Artigues walked and scored on a triple to right-center by Montenegros, who continued home on a throwing error.
Texarkana loaded the bases in its half of the sixth with two outs, but reliever Emile Lege escaped on an infield grounder.
