Twins rally to defeat Cane Cutters on Saturday

The Texarkana Twins came back from a 6-0 deficit in just one inning for a 7-6 victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Saturday evening at George Dobson Field.

After three scoreless innings in a pitching duel between the Cane Cutters' Drew Boyd and the Twins' Matt Foster,the visitors broke loose with four runs, three of which were unearned, on four hits in the fourth inning.

The first three batters led off with singles by Ryan Carr, Cameron Dobbs, and an RBI single by Tremaine Spears.

Foster retired the next two batters, but Cordell Bowie reached on an error to keep the inning alive. Fisher Norris drew a walk, and Trace Henry drove in the final run with a single.

Acadiana increased the lead to 5-0 with a home run by Spears, who also had a double in the second inning for a three-hit game.

Zach Mazur led off the sixth with a single for Acadiana, and after an out, Norris drew a walk.

Brayden Credeur then came on in relief of Foster and was greeted with an RBI single by Henry for a 6-0 advantage. Henry also had three hits in the contest.

Credeur retired the next two batters to end the inning and went the rest of the game, allowing just two hits while striking out seven over three and two-thirds innings to pick up his third victory of the season.

Texarkana (15-13) took the lead, 7-6, with seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the sixth.

Lee Thomas led off the inning with a double, and Christian Boulware blasted a home run well over the left field wall to draw within, 6-2.

Noah Sifrit had a one-out single which brought on Reed Spenrath in relief of Boyd.

The next four batters reached base as Blake Shannon was hit by the pitch, Matt Kissamis single, Tom Lichty single, and Shea Gutierrez cleared the bases with a double down the left field corner for three RBI and a 7-6 lead.

Lichty's base hit extended his hitting streak to 16 straight games and has a .363 batting average for the season.

The seven-run inning was the Twins' second highest with an eight-run inning against Brazos Valley topping the list.
