Twins' timely hitting leads to win

The bats were alive and hot for Texarkana.  

The Twins totaled 15 hits to defeat Brazos Valley, 11-6, in a Texas Collegiate League Baseball game at George Dobson Field on Friday.

Every batter in Texarkana's starting lineup had at least one hit. The Twins were able to string together more hits to earn the victory as the Bombers cranked out 13 hits.  

Matt Kissamis slapped an RBI single in the 7th to give the Twins a 7-6 lead.  Blake Shannon, who had singled, scored on the hit.  Lee Thomas, who had singled, scored on a fielder's choice to make it 8-6.

Tom Lichty singled with a fast roller past a diving first baseman as Kissamis scored for Texarkana to make it 9-6.

The Twins scored a run in the eighth on an error and a sacrifice fly by Lee Thomas to put the game further out of reach, 11-6.

Jake Taylor blasted a 2-run homer over the left field wall to give the Twins an early 2-0 lead in the first.  Lichty, who hit a hot roller single through the gap between first and second base, came in on the round tripper.

Brazos Valley put up a couple of runs in the third on Bryant Shellenbarger's infield single to knot the game at 2-all.

Three straight infield singles by Ryne Randle, Shea Gutierrez, and Lichty loaded the bases with no outs in the third for Texarkana.

Randle was brought home by Taylor's single to left, and Gutierrez later scored on a wild pitch to give the Twins back the lead, 4-2.

Steven Bonuz led off the fifth with a double to left center for Texarkana.  Bonuz moved up to third on a wild pitch and scored on Blake Shannon's RBI single to right to give the Twins a 5-2 edge.

Moments later, Noah Sifrit gave Texarkana a four-run lead when he scored on a wild pitch.  

The Bombers cut into the lead with two runs in the sixth on a pair of RBI singles by Hunter Dobbins and Cam Haller.

Brazos Valley continued to drop bombs on the Twins as Shellenbarger smacked a 2-run double to left center with no outs in the seventh to tie it up at 6-all.
