Atlanta boys, Sulphur Springs girls winners at Tiger Relays

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas-Atlanta's varsity boys dominated at the Tiger Relays and earned first place, while the varsity's girls championship was claimed by Sulphur Springs with Atlanta just seven points behind in second.

Atlanta's varsity boys took first in four of the six field events and three of the running events.

Keyuntea Kinney took gold in shot put, Trin Taylor was first in the triple jump, Tristen Allen won the high jump, and Hunter Roberts had the best height in the pole vault.

Jeremy Smith, Kelton Young, Tyrell Phillips, and Desmond Webster crossed the line first for the Rabbits in the 4x100 relay. Webster, Taylor, Phillips and Young brought home gold in the 4x200.

Taylor won the 300 hurdles for Atlanta.

Liberty-Eylau was third in the varsity boys contest, Texas High fourth and Pleasant Grove was seventh.

The Leopards' Robert Jones earned gold in the 110 hurdles as he edged Atlanta's Hunter Roberts by 0.39 seconds. Demario Manley earned 10 points for L-E as he posted the fastest time of 51.28 in the 400 meters.

Jaqualen Brown was the only first place finisher for Texas High when he posted a 22-01 in the long jump.

On the girls side, Texas High was fifth, Liberty-Eylau seventh, and PG finished eighth.

Texas High's varsity girls did well in the field events. Kaylyn Coleman won two golds-one in the shot put and one for the discus. Ohemaa Barnes won the high jump for the Lady Tigers.

Atlanta's Shevore Smith won the long jump, Teshuna Shepard took the triple jump and Starr Davis earned 10 points for the Lady Rabbits in the pole vault.

Ania King edged Sulphur Springs' N'sya Dugan by 0.01 seconds to win the 100 meters for Atlanta. Ella Braxx showed her stamina when she finished the 800 meters in the top spot.

Atlanta's junior varsity boys finished in second place with 104 points. Sulphur Springs took home the first place trophy with 156 points.
