REDWATER, Texas-Two huge early scoring plays by Elysian Fields proved to be the difference in the Yellow Jackets' 25-13 victory over Redwater in the opening game of the season at Dragons Field.

Elysian Fields only had possession for 25 seconds in the first quarter, but it resulted in an 81-yard run by Nathan Johnson and a 94-yard pass from Logan Hughes to Dylan Parker.

Hughes led the Yellow Jackets, completing 10 of 20 passes for 272 yards for three touchdowns.

Redwater relied heavily on its running attack that rolled up 266 yards rushing, but four lost fumbles ended possible scoring drives.

After the Dragons fumbled on their first possession, Johnson, a 6-0, 200-pound running back, broke several tacklers on the way to his 81-yard run.

Brian Kisida with the University of Arkansas speaks Wednesday to attendees during dinner at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville. Crystal Bridges is hosting a group of educators from art museums and art organizations for a three-day summit this week on the future of museum educational outreach. Officials from Los Angeles to New York City will brainstorm and share successes and failures in creating and implementing distance learning programs.

Late in the first quarter, a 53-yard punt by Peyton Davis, pinned the Yellow Jackets at their 6-yard line. On the first play, Hughes found Parker all alone at midfield and he took it in from there on the 94-yard pass for a 12-0 lead.

The Dragons defense tightened in the second quarter, holding EF scoreless, while scoring a touchdown to pull within, 12-6.

At the start of the second quarter, Davis broke loose on a 48-yard run to the Yellow Jackets' 14-yard line. But a fumble ended that drive.

Later in the period, two bad snaps by EF resulted in a loss of 35 yards, pushing them back to its 15-yard line. A fourth down punt was partially blocked, and Redwater took over at the visitors 30-yard line.

Five plays later, Nick Carter scored on 5-yard run with 2:36 left until halftime to pull within, 12-6.

The Dragons got a break in final seconds when an EF touchdown was called back on a penalty.

Elysian Fields scored on its first possession of third quarter with a 25-yard pass to Parker.

Hughes teamed up again with Parker on another 25-yard scoring play for a 25-6 advantage with just 5:14 left in the contest.

Led by Trenton Smith, who had 68 yards on just six carries, the Dragons scored on 1-yard run by Seth Lathrop.

Unfortunately, there was only 57 seconds left in the game.

Davis was the leading rusher for the Dragons with 81 yards on seven carries.

Redwater will be at home again next Friday with a game against Hooks.
