Early lead boosts Dierks past Fouke: Alexander scores game-high 21 points in Lady Outlaws' 61-57 victory

FOUKE, Ark.-Dierks built a nine-point lead in the first quarter and held on for the 61-57 win over Fouke Monday in girls basketball action at Panther Gym.

Ashton Alexander pumped in 21 points for the Lady Outlaws, and Stacy Carter added 20 points.

Hannah Mauldin led the Lady Panthers (8-2) with 15 points, and Crysta Larey had 12.

Fouke won the junior high game, 44-21, to improve to 5-0. Taylor Hardin had 16 points for the Panthers, and Halle Mounts had eight for Dierks.

The Lady Panthers play today at Bradley.

KIRBY, Ark.-Eden Crow had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds as Genoa Central cruised past Bradley at the Kirby Invitational basketball tournament.

Carly Wood added 11 points, while teammate Victoria Hill had eight points to go with 12 rebounds for the Lady Dragons.

Tyesha Harris led all scorers with 27 points for the Lady Bears.

Genoa Central (7-0) plays Foreman Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the Kirby tournament.

KIRBY, Ark.-Kolten McCoy hit four treys and finished with 25 points as Genoa Central outlasted Sparkman in the Kirby Invitational basketball tournament.

Colby Cobb scored 14 points for the Dragons.

TMS sweeps

Amari Morrison poured in 11 points as Texas Middle School routed Mount Pleasant 35-19.

Ashlyn Stiger scored nine points for the host Lady Tigers, who improved to 3-0.

Kimicia Jones had a game-high 14 points, and TMS easily won the 8th B game 22-3.

Samyah Smith lit up the scoreboard for 30 points as TMS' 7th A throttled Mount Pleasant 56-2. Ashanti Northcross helped out with 12 points for the host Tigers.

Ellison Davis swished in 10 points and the TMS 7th grade B team won 14-9.

 

Lady Horns down Maud

McLEOD Texas-Olivia Darracott hit four shots from 3-point land as she finished with 15 points, and McLeod's 8th grade remained undefeated with a 61-12 win over Maud.

Fibbie Comer contributed 13 points, while teammate Jacey Finlayson had 12.

Gracie Lance delivered 11 points, and the Lady Horns' 7th grade shutout the Lady Cardinals 43-0.

Alyssa Hall and Valerie Mason chipped in nine points each.

 

Pewitt's 8th wins

RED LICK, Texas-Cayanne Heath kept the scorekeeper busy as she had 26 points to lead Paul Pewitt's 8th A over Red Lick 46-21.

Shae Jones helped out with 11 points for the Lady Brahmas.

Peyton Sims and Graci Henard paced the Lady Mustangs with six points apiece.

Ann Elise Lindsay sunk 10 points as Red Lick's 7th A defeated Pewitt 23-15.

Sam Mongognia had a team-high six points for the Brahmas.

Izzy Daniels had the hot hand as she scored 13 points, and the Mustangs' 7th B claimed a 21-8 win over Pewitt.

Emily Minor popped in four points for the Brahmas.

 

DeKalb takes 2 of 3

DeKALB, Texas-Mikayla Daniels led all scorers with 13 points as DeKalb's 8th A defeated Redwater 26-21.

Sydney McBride paced the Lady Dragons with seven points.

Aniyah Johnson poured in 18 points and the Lady Bears won the 7th A game, 30-25. Teammate Emily Murphy helped out with six points.

Reagan Markham had a team-high 13 points for Redwater.

Samatha Hurst swished in eight points, and the Dragons' 7th B defeated the Bears 17-12.

Anna-Claire Raulston and Haley Forte scored four points each for DeKalb.

 

Lady Hawks take two

Macey Young fired in 20 points, and Pleasant Grove's 8th A rolled Liberty-Eylau 38-3 at Hawk Gym.

Peyton Mathews tallied 14 points, but the Hawks' 7th A were edged by the Lady Leopards 32-29.

Emma Sanderson led PG with eight points as the Hawks' 7th B defeated L-E 23-11.

 

Lady Lions win three

HOOKS, Texas-New Boston won both junior high A games over host Hooks, including a 44-11 decision in the 8th grade contest,

Tamiya Smith scored 16 for the Lady Lions, and Mea Garcia and Meagan Reiter had four each for the Lady Hornets.

Jakquelyn Packcord scored 10 for New Boston's 7th grade A team in a 37-24 win. Lindra Burchette led Hooks with 20 points. The Lions won the B game, 30-4.

 

North Heights splits

Zniah Nelson scored 10 points for North Heights' 8th grade, but the Lady Backs fell to Lafayette County 30-20 at Hog Gym.

Staijah Taylor had five points for North Heights.

Jamiya Montgomery bucketed nine points, and the Lady Backs' 7th defeated the Lady Cougars 15-7.

 

SUBVARSITY BOYS

New Boston, Hornets split

NEW BOSTON, Texas-New Boston won both 8th grade games, and Hooks took the 7th grade contests.

The host Lions edged the Hornets, 33-29, in the 8th grade A game. Jamin Powell led NB with nine, and Kyle Atkinson added seven points. New Boston won the B game, 20-6. Mark Kelly had six for the Lions, and Cameron Dixon had two for Hooks.

Hooks took a 36-18 win in the 7th grade A game with Baird hitting for 21 points. Cameron Brant had four points for the Lions. The Hornets won the B game, 16-10, with Isaiah Castillo, Cam Jones and Lane Garrett each scoring four points. Matthew Bonilla had nine for the Lions.

 

Dragons take 3 of 4

REDWATER, Texas-Redwater won both 7th grade games and took a 39-26 victory in the 8th grade A game over DeKalb.

Preston Davis scored 15 for the Dragons' 8th grade A team, and Jake Huckaby had 10. A.J. Burgin scored 14 for the Bears. DeKalb won the B game, 13-7, with Teon Crisp scoring three for Redwater.

Malcolm Brown scored 12 points and Anthony Giambrone added 11 points for the Dragons' 7th grade A team in a 34-14 win. Kobe Williams had 10 for the Bears.

Redwater won the 7th grade B game, 13-10. Evan Smith had four for the Dragons, and Kyle Mandarich added three. Jose Vasquez and C.J. Thomas had four points each for DeKalb.

The Dragons travel to Red Lick next Monday.

 

Mustangs win 2 of 3

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas-Paul Pewitt won the 8th grade game, 30-25, and Red Lick won both 7th grade games.

The Brahmas took a 30-25 victory in the 8th grade contest. Nate Henry scored nine for the Mustangs, and Landon Yeatman had eight.

Red Lick won the 7th grade A game, 29-15, with Kason Wright scoring 10. The Mustangs wont he B game, 26-9, behind eight points from Carter Prewitt, Michael McNeal and Cade Estes.

 

Longhorns take pair

MCLEOD, Texas-McLeod won both games over Maud, including 40-18 in the 8th grade game.

Nathan Parker had 12 for the Longhorns.

McLeod won the 7th grade game, 40-9, with Tyler Williams and Braden Parker scoring 12 points apiece. Andrew Stephenson added nine points for the Horns.

 

PG, L-E split

Pleasant Grove won the 8th A and B games, 58-37 and 18-14, respectively.

Liberty-Eylau took the 7th A and B games, 25-17 and 19-14, respectively at Leopard Gym.

Tvondrick Henry put up 25 points for the Hawks in the 8th A game, while teammate Marcus Burris contributed 10 points.

Trevon Stuart paced Pleasant Grove in the 8th B game with eight points.

Ryland Hopkins scored 10 for the Hawks in the 7th A game, while Colin Manning had eight for PG's 7th B team.

Both of Pleasant Grove's 8th grade teams are undefeated at 3-0.

 

Junior high Hogs win one, drop one

Josh Taylor scored nine points and teammate Naijah Taylor had eight, but North Heights' 8th grade was edged by Lafayette County 34-33.

Chris Watson led the Hogs' 7th with seven points, and North Heights defeated the Cougars 30-18.

Rickie Williams and Mason Cornelius had six points each for the Hogs.

 

TMS takes 3 of 4

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas-Gavon Smith poured in 12 points at Texas Middle School defeated Mount Pleasant 34-30 in the 8th A game.

Teammate Ben DePriest helped out with nine points.

The host Tigers won the 8th B game 31-27. Cahari Weekly led TMS with seven points.

Tamarcus Denmark lit up the nets for 13 points as TMS won the 7th A game 47-29.

Nate Mennie had a game-high 10 points to lead the visiting Tigers' 7th B to a 28-23 win.

Texas Middle Schools' 8th A, 8th B, and 7th A teams play in the Hallsville tournament Thursday at 4 p.m.
