New Boston wins three against Red Lick

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Cameron Smith scored eight points as New Boston's 8th-grade A team flattened Red Lick, 42-2, at Lion Gym.

Aaron Price led the Mustangs with five points.

D.J. Mitchell chipped in six points, and New Boston's 8th-grade B team defeated Red Lick, 16-9.

Jamin Powell poured in 19 points as New Boston's 7th-grade A team thumped Red Lick, 48-13.

Nate Henry paced the Mustangs with eight points.

Hooks win three of four

HOOKS, Texas-Kobey Braley poured in 14 points as Hooks' 8th-grade A team defeated Redwater, 41-25, at Hornet Gym.

Marquez Estell added 12 points for the Hornets.

Nick Long led the Dragons with six points.

T.J Krause scored five points, and Hooks' 8th-grade B team defeated Redwater, 16-9.

Dawson Howard led the Dragons with three points.

Tommy Rigsby chipped in six points as Hooks' 7th-grade A team defeated Redwater, 29-24.

Preston Davis scored 13 points for the Dragons.

Rex Harrison scored seven points as Redwater's 7th-grade B team got by Hooks, 18-14.

Brenden Orr scored nine points for the Hornets.

Bulldogs, Tigers split

DAINGERFIELD, Texas-Queen City's Matthew Davenport kept the scorekeeper busy as he scored 15 points en route to a 39-26 win over Daingerfield in an 8th-grade A game.

Dylan Scott helped out with 12 points, while teammate Jeremiah Holden added 10 for the Bulldogs (9-2).

Derrick Alexander scored 10 points for Queen City (6-5) in the 7th-grade A game, but Daingerfield sped past the Bulldogs, 46-10.

Queen City hosts Mount Vernon Monday at 5 p.m.

Mount Vernon rolls

LINDEN, Texas-Mount Vernon Middle School swept Linden-Kildare in three games at Tiger Gym.

Mount Vernon's 7th- and 8th-grade teams beat L-K, 43-4 and 48-8, respectively.

Kayden Wells led the Tigers with four points.

Girls

TMS girls are champions

GREENVILLE, Texas-Texas Middle School's 7th- and 8th-grade girls played two games apiece in the district tournament and were crowned champions.

Asia Llyod scorched the nets for 17 points as the Lady Tigers' 8th-grade defeated Sulphur Springs, 49-11. In game two, Ebonee Kyle and Kerrighan Dunn scored 11 points each, and TMS posted a 40-16 victory over Mount Pleasant.

The Tigers' 8th grade finished at 14-1 overall and 11-0 in district.

Nazaya Williams had a game-high 17 points as TMS' 7th-grade team defeated Sulphur Springs, 36-18. The Tigers got 15 points from Williams in a 44-26 victory over Greenville in game two.

Shakeira Webb helped out with 12 points for the Tigers' 7th grade (15-0, 11-0), who finished with a perfect season.

Hooks and Dragons split

REDWATER, Texas-Emma Farquhar scored eight points as Hooks 8th-grade A team defeated Redwater, 22-10, at Dragon Gym.

Hooks 8th-grade B team doubled up Redwater, 21-10.

Cambel Warner and Samantha Hurst scored 10 points apiece as Redwater's 7th-grade A team defeated Hooks, 23-13.

The Lady Dragons' 7th-grade B team defeated the Lady Hornets, 11-7.

Arkansas High's
9th grade falls

Ashdown's freshman team defeated Arkansas High, 36-31, at Razorback Gym.

The Lady Backs' Skylier Bailey scored 10 points in the 9th-grade game.

Sydnee Blackwell poured in seven points as the North Heights 8th-grade team rolled past Ashdown, 22-8.

Ashdown's 7th-grade A team defeated North Heights, 19-10.

Staijah Taylor led the Lady Backs with five points.

Avery posts victory

DETROIT, Texas-Emily Lamon had the hot hand as she scored 16 points in Avery junior high's 23-16 victory over Rivercrest at Eagle Gym.

Avery (10-1) plays Detroit Saturday at 3 p.m. in the junior high district tournament championship game.
