City, area players named to TSWA all-state team

Pleasant Grove junior Caleb Bolden, who went 14-0 for the Hawks in his first season as a starter, earned first-team, all-state honors on the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association's Class 4A All-State Baseball Team.
In four playoff wins, Bolden struck out 32 while posting a 0.67 as the Hawks won a regional title and made the state semifinals.
Four other Hawks were named to the team, including a pair of speedy outfielders. Senior VaShon Williams earned second-team honors and Hawk center fielder A.J. Snyder made the third team.
Catcher Mark Ashby and shortstop earned honorable mention from the writers. Shortstop Joe Pearlman, a Henderson State signee, also earned an honorable mention.
"It's awesome to see the hard work and dedication of each of these young men to be recognized throughout the state," said PG coach Riley Fincher.
Maud pitcher Jake McDonald, who is already enrolled at Texas Tech, earned second team, Class 2A honors. A three-time District MVP, McDonald threw two no-hitters in the playoffs.
In 5A, Texas High designated hitter Cade Thompson earned an honorable mention.
Linden-Kildare second baseman Blake Burns merited
an honorable mention in Class 3A.
