With 12 Prescott players still in the football playoffs, the outcome of Tuesday's game with Texas High might not have been different, but the Tigers' 111-78 victory at the Tiger Center could have been more competitive.

"I was looking for effort tonight, and we got that; I was pleased with our play," THS coach Keith Jones said. "I thought our pressure wore them down in the fourth quarter. I'm glad we caught them early, because they're going to be really good when they get their football players."

Jones has been a coach at Texas High 24 years, and said he couldn't remember if a Tiger team had scored 111 points in a game before.

All 11 players in uniform for the Tigers played and scored, six in double figures. Senior Lavon Brown poured in a team-high 18 points, with Curtis Crump scoring 15, and junior Tevailance Hunt coming off the bench to add 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Caleb Wilson scored 12, while Anton Coulter and Quan Hampton contributed 10 points each.

Prescott only had seven players in uniform and three got in foul trouble, with sophomore Courtland Mixon fouling out after scoring 12 points.

Sophomore Quantas Gulley led all scorers with 25 points, while senior Bralyn Wilson added 20 and Jeral Giles 11.

The game was competitive until the final quarter when Texas High exploded for 42 points, eight by Hunt.

The Tigers' pressure forced 30 turnovers.

Texas High scored the game's first seven points, but the Wolves rallied to capture a 22-21 lead at the first break.

The difference in the opening quarter was rebounding with sophomore Mixon and senior Giles pulling down four caroms each. Mixon scored eight points in the first eight minutes and 10 in the first half.

The short-handed Wolves had 14 turnovers in the first two quarters, and their lead disappeared in the second period when THS controlled the boards.

The Tigers finished with a 51-37 advantage on the boards.

Prescott also got into early foul trouble with Mixon and Gulley called for three each in the first half.

Wilson scored with 7:23 left in the first half to put Prescott up 24-21. The Tigers then took charge behind the play of Crump and Hunt inside, and the outside shooting of Wilson, Stanley and Brown.

Stanley's second trey gave the Tigers their biggest lead in the opening half at 46-33.

In a preliminary contest, Prescott's freshmen beat the Tigers, 43-39. C.J. Hill led the winners with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Matt Arnold led THS with 15 points, and Cedric Kelly contributed 14.
