Krum uses second half to rout Pleasant Grove

ROYSE CITY, Texas-Krum's big second half upended Pleasant Grove.

After the Hawks held a 21-20 lead at intermission, the Bobcats (5-1) outscored Pleasant Grove (1-4) 36-7 in the second half en route to a 56-28 win at Royse City ISD Stadium Friday.

Carson Cox grabbed a 31-yard pass from T.J. Cole for the Hawks' lone score of the second half. PG was shut out in the fourth quarter.

Krum racked up 434 yards rushing to the Hawks' 206. Running back Haeden Knight ran for 189 yards and quarterback Brandon Reeves had 186 for the Bobcats.

Knight scored three touchdowns in the second half.

Logan Wesley and Chauncey Martin were the leading rushers for the Hawks with 56 yards each. PG used six different runners.

The first half was played evenly, and Pleasant Grove went into the locker room with a 21-20 lead.

Cole got the Hawks on the board first with a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. PG went 62 yards on eight plays in 3:43.

The drive was highlighted by a Martin 29-yard run and an 11-yard pick up by Wesley.

Krum responded on the next possession with a Brandon Reeves 14-yard TD pass to Lorenzo Tystad.

The Hawks went three and out and punted.

Bobcat running back Haeden Knight found a seam and gained 31 yards to put Krum at the PG 37 yard line. Reeves spun his way out of a couple of tackles and scored on a 37 yarder to put the Bobcats up, 13-7.

The Hawks were forced to punt on their next drive, but Krum fumbled the ball and PG recovered.

Pleasant Grove put together a 10-play, 61-yard drive in 3:32 that was capped by a Keshawn Jones 5-yard TD run. The PAT was good, and the Hawks took back the lead, 14-13.

After Krum went three and out, PG took the ball at its own 44 yard line. Boston Castillo intercepted a Hawk pass, and the Bobcats converted the turnover into seven points.

Caleb Porchia made a great defensive play for Pleasant Grove during Krum's scoring drive, as he tripped up quarterback Reeves, who was trying to bounce to the outside, for a loss of one yard.

Martin picked up a crucial first down on a 22-yard run during PG's last minute drive before the half.

With over a minute to go, the Hawks drove 64 yards and scored with just 37 seconds left when Wesley had a hard-nosed run up the middle for a 5-yard TD.

Next week, the Hawks host Gilmer in a District 7-4A, Division II opener for both teams.
