Unbeaten Prescott routs Gurdon

PRESCOTT, Ark.-Prescott remained undefeated and throttled Gurdon, 44-13, Friday night at Eddie Jackson Field at Cummins Stadium.

Running back Carlos Vanhook rushed 11 times for 147 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, and the top-ranked Curley Wolves (5-0, 2-0) ran for 303 yards and passed for 203 yards.Vanhook had scoring runs of 42, 13 and 4 yards.

Derrick Flynn had a 45-yard scoring scamper and connected with Kadarius Pearson on a 73-yard touchdown with 1:41 remaining in the first half to go up 38-7.

Laroderick Walker also had a 2-yard plunge for Prescott, and Cade Haynie added a 4-yard score.

Thomas Muldrew threw a pair of touchdowns for the Go-Devils (2-3, 0-2), hooking up with B.J. Brewer on a 27-yarder and Donald Haynie for 22 yards.

The Curley Wolves play at Horatio next week.

 

Nashville 65, Fountain Lake 29

HOT SPRINGS, Ark.-Tyler Hanson threw six touchdowns, and top-ranked Nashville continued to torch its opponents to improve to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in 7-4A conference play.

Hanson was 14-of-18 passing for 292 yards, and Darius Hopkins rushed 11 times for 136 yards and two scores, covering 50 and 2 yards. Trent Harris ran for 81 yards and two scores on just six carries, and Ty Pettway hauled in four catches for 82 yards and two TDs. Dominck Knight also had two catches for 88 yards and scored on both, and Zack Jamison ran for a TD.

The Scrappers scored 35 points in the first quarter, led 42-22 at halftime and put up another 23 points in the third quarter. Nashville rushed for 252 yards on 27 totes.

 

Centerpoint 40, Horatio 0

HORATIO, Ark.-It was all Centerpoint (2-2, 0-1) as the Knights shut out Horatio (2-2, 1-0) .

Quarterback Keenan Owens took charge for Centerpoint, throwing five touchdown passes to three different receivers against the host Lions.

Centerpoint got on the board initially in the first quarter at the 9:07 mark, as Blake Crawford dashed in from the 37 yards. After a failed kick, the Knights were up 6-0.

Owens' first TD pass spanned 26 yards and went to Cameron Closer. Caesar Roman's kicks were good for the rest of the night, giving the visitors a 13-0 advantage. Logan Taylor got on the board in the first quarter after catching a 43-yard pass from Owens.

Owens teamed with Closer for a 5-yard scoring strike, expanding the score to 27-0. Three minutes later, Lance Chambers hauled in a 36-yard fling from Owens. Chambers and Owens paired up the final time on a 7-yard pass to put the game out of reach.

The Knights tallied 432 yards total offense. Owens threw for 233 yards, completing 15 of his 20 attempts for the five touchdowns.

Crawford ran the ball 16 times for 93 yards and a TD. Chambers made six catches for 113 yards and two scores. Taylor caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown, and Closer finished with two receptions for 31 yards and two more TDs.

In other games, Fordyce bested Fouke, 30-20; Foreman outlasted Dierks, 56-41; Ashdown routed Bauxite, 48-3; Mineral Springs blanked MountainPine, 13-0; Mount Ida beat Murfreesboro, 50-20; Hope fell to Hot Springs, 22-7; and Lakeside edged Magnolia, 21-13.
