HOOKS, Texas-A bad snap on an extra point attempt by Paul Pewitt was the difference as Hooks defeated the Brahmas, 42-41, in overtime Friday night at Hornet Stadium.
Paul Pewitt scored first in OT on a 15-yard run by TyShun Mitchell.
Hooks got the ball at the 25 and Montrell Estell ran for 24 yards and then carried it in for the final yard. Logan Murray booted the game-winning extra-point.
Hooks maintained it's lead in district play with a 4-1 record, while Paul Pewitt falls to 2-2.
After falling behind 21-7, Hooks rallied late in the second quarter to tie the game 21-21 at halftime. After the score was tied 7-7 in the first quarter, Mitchell scored a 20-yard pass from Lucas Hungerford.
Later in the second period, Hungerford teamed up with Nick Garrett for a 63-yard touchdown pass and 21-7 advantage.
The Hornet's started their comeback when Shamar Jefferson intercepted a pass at the 20 and returned the ball to the 3. Seth Mahar then scored on a three-yard run with 2:20 left until halftime.
The 49-yard pass from Connor Price to Carter Duncan set up Price's 15-yard touchdown pass to Malik Estell with just seven seconds left.
Hooks took the second half kick0ff and marched 66 yards in seven plays for a touchdown. It was the Hornets' first lead of the game. PJ Dickerson's 34-yard run help set up Mahar's 1-yard TD run.
Paul Pewitt Trebon Betts tied the game 28-28 with a 5-yard run.
Each team scored in the fourth period with Hooks Malik Estell scoring a 1-yard run and LaBrandon Webster on a 3-yard run.
Neither team scored in the final 7:46 of regulation.
Price led the Hornets' passing attack, completing 12 of 22 for 177 yards. Dickerson was the leading rusher with 128 yards on just nine carries.
Hungerford led the Brahmas, completing 15 of 30 passes for 229 yards.
