Horatio falls to Jessieville, 37-6

HORATIO, Ark.-Jessieville (6-2, 4-1) used a 20-point third quarter to rout Horatio, 37-6, in a Conference 5-3A game Friday night.

The Lions turned a 10-0 halftime lead into a 30-6 cushion after three quarters before scoring one more time in the fourth quarter for the final margin of victory.

Horatio was led by quarterback Adam Saveall with 153 yards passing on 24 attempts, however Saveall also threw two interceptions. Andrew Galloway had 82 yards on 10 carries and Steven Benson has 82 yards receiving on five receptions.

Horatio quarterback Zach Izzo led Horatio with 68 yards passing on 17 attempts in a losing effort, including a 42-yard scoring strike to Pedro Ruvalcaba in the third quarter.

 

Fouke 14, Genoa Central 0

FOUKE, Ark.-The host Panthers won "The Battle of the Bridge" again, registering the Conference 6-3A victory over the Dragons.

The winner receives the Bridge Trophy and bragging rights for another year. Fouke has never lost in the series that began in 2010.

The Panthers (5-3, 2-3) did all their scoring in the first half. Landon Gonzales got Fouke on the scoreboard with a 2-yard run. The extra-point kick failed, leaving the score 6-0.

Gonzales later hooked up with Branson Kirk for a 5-yard scoring toss. Charley Baker's 2-point conversion run gave the Panthers a 14-0 cushion with just 14 seconds left in the half.

Fouke rolled up 195 yards total offense, with 172 coming via the ground assault, while Genoa Central (4-4, 1-4) was limited to 149-all on the ground.

Genoa Central turned the ball over three times, including twice on fumbles, while the Panthers had two turnovers-one pass interception and one fumble.

 

Foreman 42, Mineral Springs 24

MINERAL SPRINGS, Ark.-Foreman made itself at home beating Mineral Springs on the road in this Conference 7-2A game.

The Gators (6-2, 4-1) dominated the running game, collectively carrying the ball 48 times for 500 yards and racking-up six rushing touchdowns.

The Hornets stayed close most of the first half but Foreman started pulling away at 3:08 in the first half and never looked back.

Mineral Springs falls to 2-6 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.

The Hornets were led by Ricky Walker who scored on two runs, one from 19 yards out and the other from 2 yards out.

Tucker Hall led the Gators with 15 carries for 161 yards and four TDs, three of which he scored in the first half. The first was a 55-yard bolt in the first quarter. In the second quarter, both of his two runs came from 1 yard out. Hall's fourth score was a 17-yard run to start the third quarter.

Kyren Batey added to the Gators' lead twice in the third on two TD runs, one from 38 yards out and the other from 39.

Sam Gamble kicked the PATs for Foreman and got all six between the uprights.

Chase Boyd rushed 17 times for 77 yards, CJ Green ran the ball three times for 25 yards, and Kolton Moore had three carries for 8 yards for Foreman.

 

Nashville 42, Mena 7

MENA, Ark.-Top-ranked Nashville extended its winning streak to 23 straight games as the Scrappers mauled the Bearcats in a Conference 7-4A game.

Nashville, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class 4A, improves to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference while Mena slips to 5-3, 3-2.

Scrapper running back Darius Hopkins rushing for 109 yards and scored three touchdowns, giving him 27 for the season. He entered the game leading the state in TDs.

Hopkins carried the ball only 14 times and scored on runs of 4, 20 and 1 yards.

Nashville quarterback Tyler Hanson also completed 12-of-17 passes for 256 yards and two more scores. His TDs went to Ty Pettway from 38 yards and Zack Jamison from 48 yards. Pettway finished with five catches for 125 yards.

C.J. Spencer had a 63-yard scoring run

Nashville led 35-0 at intermission and 42-0 early in the fourth quarter after C.J. Spencer raced 63 yards for six points.

Mena's only touchdown came with 3:30 left on a 24-yard run by Rozannen.

 

Prescott 41, Harmony Grove 0

PRESCOTT, Ark.- Prescott quenched Benton Harmony Grove's shot at the 5-3A playoffs, mercy-ruling the Cardinals.

Carlos Vanhook ran away with the game for the Curley Wolves, rushing 12 times for 100 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the first two quarters.

Out of the gate Prescott took a commanding lead, scoring three touchdowns in the first six minutes of the game.

Vanhook had a 16-yard run to get things started. Kade Honea's kick put the Curley Wolves up 7-0. Three minutes later Laroderick Walker sprinted 59 yards for a touchdown.

Kadarius Pearson and quarterback Derrick Flynn connected twice in a row at 6:38 in the first quarter, the first a 36-pass, and the second a 2-point conversion to bring up the score to 21-0. Flynn ended the night attempting 14 passes and completing 1o of them for 193 yards and a TD.

Second verse same as the first; the Curley Wolves continued to pull away from Benton Harmony Grove and instituted the mercy rule after scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter.

Vanhook initiated the first score of the second quarter with a 38-yard dash for six and then he did it again from 9 yards out five minutes later, making the score 34-0.

The final score of the game came with 22 seconds left in the first half, a 1-yard plunge by Walker. Walker's touchdown pushed Prescott over 35, starting the first mercy rule.

The Curley Wolves (8-0, 5-0) came into the game tied with Charleston for the top position in the state in Class 3A.

 

Other scores

Dierks pulled a stunner, knocking off Mount Ida, 42-21. Other Southwest Arkansas area scores were: Hot Springs Lakeside 48, De Queen 14; Magnolia 21, Watson Chapel 14; Ashdown 39, Arkadelphia 29; Murfreesboro 54, Spring Hill 14; and Camden Fairview 42, Hope 21.
