Arkansas High sweeps Hot Springs

Makenna Ivey served in 15 points and had nine digs as Arkansas High swept Hot Springs, 25-16, 25-10, 25-16, in a non-conference volleyball match at Razorback Gym.

Adison Wright added 12 points and six digs for the Lady Backs. Brooklyn Brewer put down five kills, had nine service points and two blocks for Arkansas High.

Tierra Holliman added 13 assists and nine points for the Lady Backs.

Alpha Larry served in seven points as Arkansas High's junior varsity won, 25-6, 16-25, 15-13. Erin Wherry helped out with five digs.

 

Subvarsity

Red Lick tops Hughes Springs

RED LICK, Texas-Mallory Wallace served in 11 points as Red Lick's 8th grade A team defeated Hughes Springs, 25-13, 25-15.

Jaycie Pemberton slapped in seven points for the visiting Lady Mustangs.

Kinley Pardue had 13 service points, and Red Lick's 7th B team was leading Hughes Springs when time expired, 30-28, 4-6. Brooklyn Woodruff had 12 points for Hughes Springs.

Ann Elise Lindsay served in 17 winners as Red Lick won the 7th A match, 27-25, 25-11. Briley Stewart had seven points for the visiting Mustangs.

Delaney Edwards had five service points for Red Lick and the home Mustangs were leading when time expired, 7-25, 25-19, 4-2. Ashtyn Dean served in 11 winners for Hughes Springs.

 

L-E takes four

Derrica Arnold had a match-high 14 service points as Liberty-Eylau swept Pittsburg, 25-10, 25-14 at the Rader Dome in an 8th grade A match.

Tori Newsom slapped in 10 service points to lead L-E's 8th B team over the Lady Pirates, 25-20.

Kacelyn Nelson and Talyia James had 14 service points each, and the Lady Leopards' 7th A team defeated the Pittsburg, 25-21, 20-25, 25-13.

Khalia Cleghorn served in 10 winners as Liberty-Eylau's 7th B defeated the Pirates, 25-20.

 

TMS sweeps North Heights

Emily Meunier and Megan McHenry served in nine points apiece as Texas Middle School's 8th grade team swept North Heights, 25-8, 25-21.

Alex Reed had 15 service points to lead Texas Middle School's 7th grade over the Lady Backs, 25-9, 25-7.

 

Lady Hawks sweep

Pleasant Grove swept North Lamar in junior high matches.

The Lady Hawks' 8th grade 'A' team won, 25-13, 25-18, with Abi Yowell serving 13 points and Macy Young adding 11.

Hallie Lipham served 16 winners for PG's 7th grade 'A' team in a 22-25, 25-15, 25-19 win.

 

Lady Brahmas win pair

HOOKS, Texas-Paul Pewitt won two junior high matches against host Hooks, including a 25-21, 25-19 decision in the 8th grade 'A' contest.

Charmya Heath had 10 points for the Lady Brahmas, and Reagan Reiter led the Lady Hornets with 10 winners.

Brooke Traylor served 15 points for Paul Pewitt in the 7th grade 'A' team's 25-15, 25-6 win.

Hooks won the 8th grade 'B' match, 25-10, 23-20, and the 7th grade 'B' match was split, the host team winning the first set, 25-21, and PP taking the second, 12-11.

 

Football

Tigers top Leopards

Texas High won the junior varsity game against Liberty-Eylau, 32-6, at Harris Field.

Dashaveon Burks tossed touchdowns to Davarioan Malone and Mason Jones, and Demarquis Vaughan added a fumble return for a score for the Tigers. Burks also ran for a 2-point conversion, and Pago Kelly and Keith Williams each had a rushing touchdown.

Laravione Finley had an interception for the Tigers, and Malone was another defensive standout for THS. The Tiger offensive linemen was also named as standouts.

 

Hogs trounce Hawks

Dionko Horton scored twice on long runs, and Arkansas High won the junior varsity game against Pleasant Grove, 33-6.

Horton had TD run sof 55 and 96 yards for the Razorbacks, Nick Vaughn returned a fumble 21 yards for a score and Shamon Smith added a 52-yard jaunt to the end zone. Javarous Bullock had a 24-yard TD romp and a 2-point conversion, and Patrick Cook kicked a PAT.

For the Hawks, Dillon Williams scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter, and Parker Twisdale had an interception on defense.

 

Nashville
9th grade wins 48th

MAGNOLIA, Ark.-Quarterback Lance Easter had scoring runs of 61, 27 and 4 yards while carrying nine times for 152 yards to help Nashville open the season with its 48th consecutive win, dating back to October of 2010, with a 34-6 victory over Magnolia.

Easter also tossed a 27-yard TD to Devonte Witherspoon during the win.

Nashville's 8th grade won, 18-13.

 

Texas High frosh roll

Conner Allen had a 2-yard touchdown run and threw a two-point conversion pass to Dayveon Hawkins as Texas High's 9th grade defeated Liberty-Eylau 28-6 at

Marquavious Fisher returned a fumble 64 yards for a Tiger score, and Trakeci Cooper had a touchdown on a 6-yard run. Cooper punched in the two-point PAT after his score.

Tyrell Miller blazed down the field on a 61-yard TD run for Texas High's final touchdown. The Tigers' Kieran Meachum intercepted a Leopard pass in the end zone.

TJ Templeton was an offensive standout and had the Leopards' lone score on a 9-yard run. Shannon Roy and Jake Rawson were two other offensive standouts for L-E.

Ethan Brooks, Korbyn White, and Reggie Woodside were defensive standouts for the Leopards.

 

Bears win twice

DEKALB, Texas-DeKalb won its junior varsity game against James Bowie, 38-6, and the junior high Bears bested Maud, 30-6.

For the jayvee Bears against the Pirates, Timon Proby ran for scores of 12 and 63 yards, Elijah Okia had scoring runs of 33 and 6 yards, and Kole Dooley ran for and threw a TD. Dooley covered 2 yards on his score and connected with Riley Starrett for 19 yards and a TD. Okia also had 2-point conversion.

In the junior high win for DeKalb, Jamar Vaughn had a 5-yard run and 62-yard fumble return for scores. Ty Olsen ran 8 yards to paydirt, and A. J. Burgin added a 3-yard scoring plunge. Olsen, Burgin and Ramaj Vaughn each had a 2-pointer.

 

Dragons' JV posts shutout

REDWATER, Texas-Jonah Ketchum dashed down the field for a 53-yard touchdown run to power Redwater over Harleton, 16-0, in a junior varsity football game at Dragon Stadium.

Ketchum also had a two-point conversion run. Jackson Feemster scored from four yards out for the Dragons, and teammate Matt Williams had one two-point conversion run.

Chandler Collum recovered a fumble for Redwater.

 

Redwater jr. high
crushes Harleton

REDWATER, Texas-Preston Davis had a pair of touchdowns and three, two-point conversion runs to lift Redwater over Harleton, 38-0, in an 8th grade football game.

Davis scored on a 36-yard run and a 65-yard kickoff return.

Logan Johnson found the end zone from 40 yards out on a reverse handoff from Rolan Smith and had a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown for Redwater.

The Dragons' Gage Stivers scored a TD on a 40-yard run and had one, two-point conversion run. Stivers also made one interception.

Dalton Robertson had two fumble recoveries for Redwater, while teammates Rex Harrison and Seth Windham stood out on defense.

Malcolm Brown had touchdown runs of 25, 65, and 33 yards as Redwater's 7th grade defeated Harleton, 26-8.

John Collier tackled a Harleton runner in the end zone for a Dragon safety to put Redwater on the board.

The Dragons' Evan Smith had two, two-point conversion runs, and teammate Kaleb Narens had one, two-point PAT run. Cole Turner made one fumble recovery for Redwater.

 

Queen City JV victorious

LINDEN, Texas-Kemya Hicks had two rushing touchdowns as Queen City defeated Linden-Kildare 48-6 in a junior varsity football
game.

Dylan Scott, Nate Burden, Damarius Fuller and Ben Harris rushed for one score each for the Bulldogs. Trey Clayton plunged into the end zone for two, two-point conversion runs, and Scott added another.

Burden returned an interception for a TD. Defensive standouts for the Bulldogs were Eveyn Upchurch and Colton Wilde, both of whom had one fumble recovery.

Queen City won a pair of junior high games at Linden-Kildare, including a 52-0 8th grade contest.

The Bulldogs took a 28-8 win in the 7th grade game.

 

Tennis

Razorbacks defeat
Siloam Springs

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark.-Arkansas High's tennis team defeated Siloam Springs 5-2 but fell to Greenwood 6-1.

The Razorbacks' next action is in Russellville Thursday against Russellville and Lake Hamilton.
