AHS wins in 5: Adison Wright's play leads Lady Backs past El Dorado

Arkansas High's resilience payed off.

With her team down two sets to one, Adison Wright caught fire in the server's box, served 10 in a row in the final set, and the Lady Backs came back to defeat El Dorado, 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-4, at Razorback Gym Tuesday.

Brooklyn Brewer swatted three kills and had one block for Arkansas High during Wright's flurry. Head Lady Back coach Kelsey Jackson said she was satisfied with the way her team played.

"We played well, and I am really proud of them for fighting back," Jackson said. "I am super proud to see them progress from where they started from and they finished tonight. We haven't done that all season."

Makenna Ivey took the serve in the fourth set with the Lady Backs down 22-20. Ivey served in four straight points, and Megan Holder added a kill for the Arkansas High comeback win.

The teams played on even keel in the third set, but the Lady Backs did not put together a run of more than three points, and the Lady Wildcats capitalized on 10 Arkansas High hit errors to win the set. Holder put down four kills during the third set for the Lady Backs.

Ivey served in seven points in a row early in the second set to put Arkansas High up 8-2. After the rally, the Lady Backs had a hard time keeping the serve. El Dorado's Sydni Crissali took the serve with the Wildcats on top, 23-22, and forced two serve return errors to close out the set.

Tiana Miller started the first set off for El Dorado with 10 straight service points. Arkansas High committed five hit errors, and two setting errors during Miller's flurry.

But the Lady Backs were determined and three servers later, Brewer took the box and slapped in 10 straight points to make the score 15-13 in favor of Arkansas High. Holder put down four kills during the rally.

Brewer served in 14 service points and had a game-high 19 kills for the Lady Backs. Wright finished with 25 service points, including two aces, and 10 digs. T

Tierra Holliman assisted 22 times for Arkansas High, while teammate Tatiyana Johnson made 15 digs.

Kate Todd and Jasmine Benson had eight service points each as the Lady Backs' junior varsity defeated the Wildcats, 22-25, 25-9, 15-6.

Kaitlyn Fortenberry slapped in 20 service points, and Arkansas High's 9th grade swept El Dorado, 25-9, 25-11. Sydnee Blackwell led the Lady Backs with six kills.

Alyssa Young served in six winners and North Heights' 8th grade defeated El Dorado, 25-13, 25-19. Jalynn Caldwell helped out with four service points.
