Atlanta smashes past New Boston for 52-0 blowout

ATLANTA, Texas-Homestanding Atlanta built a commanding 36-0 halftime lead and coasted to a 52-0 victory over New Boston Friday night at Rabbit Stadium.

It was the Rabbs (3-1) third straight win following a season-opening defeat. The Lions slip to 2-3.

Atlanta quarterback Layton Henson completed 5-of-7 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Henson's scores were to Trin Taylor (86 yards), and Hinton Roberts (39 and 11 yards).

The Rabbits jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead. Henson connected with Taylor for his first TD toss of the night and the game's first points. Zee Barfoot kicked it to 7-0.

Kelton Young then broke free on a 20-yard scoring scamper and Barfoot tacked on the PAT for a
14-0 advantage.

Young added a 26-yard touchdown jaunt for the 20-0 lead.

In the second quarter, the Rabbits' scores came on a safety when Reggie Blaylock tackled the Lions' punter in the end zone, and Roberts hauled in his pair of TD receptions.

In the second half, Nick Cooper had a 26-yard scoring dash, Barfoot a 25-yard field goal and Jawan King a 76-yard touchdown dash.

Atlanta finished with 459 yards total offense while New Boston managed 132. Both teams had one turnover in the game.

The Rabbs host Tatum next Friday.

 

Hooks 40, Queen City 9

HOOKS, Texas-The Hornets (2-3) jumped out to a 17 point halftime lead en route to a big win over the Bulldogs (1-4) in the District 7-3A Division II opener for both schools.

The Hornets had a huge game on the ground, racking up 421 rushing yards on 22 carries, and ended up with the win despite two
turnovers.

The Hornets were led by Montrell Estell with 248 yards on four carries with four tds, and P.J. Dickerson with 116 yards on five carries and two touchdowns.

 

Paul Pewitt 70, Ore City 43

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas- The Brahmas (3-2) opened District 7-3A, Division II play with a bang in a rout of the Rebels (1-4).

After leading 34-21 at halftime, the Brahmas ran away in the second half, outscoring the Rebels 36-22.

The Brahmas defense also had a stellar night with five interceptions to go along with two fumble recoveries. They had a total of 408 yards rushing, and were led by Lucas Hungerford with 185 yards on 18 carries with two TDs, and LaBrandon Webster with 119 yards on 21 carries.

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas- The Bulldogs (4-1) jumped out to a 30-point halftime lead en route to a big win over the Mustangs (3-2).

Garrison piled up 518 yards on the night. The Mustangs had 295 yards and were led by Alex Bruce with 93 yards rushing in a losing effort.
