Eleven area softball teams begin their playoff journeys today with some schools playing a best-of-three bi-district series and others will play one game.
Texas High takes on North Forney in Class 5A action at 7 p.m. Thursday at Texas High's Lady Tiger Field. Game 2 is Friday at 7 p.m. at North Forney High School, and Game 3, if needed, will be at Northeast Texas Community College Saturday at noon.
Liberty-Eylau will play a best-of-three series against Canton in Class 4A with the first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Longview High School. Game 2 is Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Marshall's Lady Maverick Field, and Game 3, if needed, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Marshall.
Mount Pleasant plays Mesquite Poteet in a Class 5A best-of-three series. All games will be at Royce City High School, and Game 1 starts at 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 is Friday at 7 p.m., and Game 3 is Saturday at 3.
In Class 4A, Atlanta goes up against Van in a best-of-three series, and the action begins Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Marshall's Lady Maverick Field. Friday's Game 2 and Saturday's Game 3 will be played in Sulphur Springs at 7:30 p.m. and noon, respectively.
Redwater faces Mount Vernon in Class 3A action at Pine Tree High School with the first pitch slated for 8 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 is Friday at 6 p.m. back at Pine Tree, and Game 3 will follow, if needed.
Hooks draws Cooper in a one-game elimination bi-district contest Thursday at 6 p.m. at Northeast Texas Community College in a Class 3A showdown.
Hughes Springs plays a winner-take-all game against Winnsboro Friday at 6 p.m. at Northeast Texas Community College in Class 3A action.
New Boston and Prairiland match up in a 3A best-of-three series at NTCC starting Thursday at 8 p.m., following the Hooks-Cooper game. The Lady Lions and Lady Pats clash in Game 2 at 7:30 Friday, after the Hughes Springs-Winnsboro game, and if a third game is needed it will also be played Friday night between NB and Prairiland.
In Class 2A, Maud takes on Detroit Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Paul Pewitt High School in a one-game playoff, McLeod faces North Hopkins Thursday at 6 p.m. at Union Grove High School in a one-game playoff, and James Bowie clashes with Rivercrest Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Hughes Springs High School.
