CANTON, Texas-Pleasant Grove's Braxton Watkins placed first at the Class 4A regional golf tournament after shooting a 71 in the final round at Van Zandt Country Club Tuesday.
Watkins posted a 139 over two rounds and shot a 68 on Monday.
The Hawks finished second to Canton as a team, 611-594.
Ray Norton carded a 153 over the course of the tournament, Jathan White had a 161, and Ben Legrand and Jackson Giles each finished with a 162 for PG.
The Hawks qualified for the state golf tournament on May 22-23 at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Marble Falls, Texas.

Liberty-Eylau wrapped up its season with a loss to North Lamar on Senior Night at Leopard Field.
Garrett Brooks and Jaylon Benton combined to allow just five hits against the Panthers, Brooks working six innings in the start. Brooks and
Benton were among the seven senior honored prior to the game, the others included were Triston Brooks, Jaocby Ross, Dakota Coffee, Rory Baugus and Darian
Walker.
Cutter Webb had a pair of singles for the Leopards, Ross added a double, and Triston Brooks and Coffee had a single each.
