L-E, Hughes Springs, Redwater have undefeated first day

REDWATER, Texas-Liberty-Eylau, Hughes Springs and Redwater went undefeated after the first day of the Redwater Spikers' volleyball tournament Thursday.
The action continues Saturday, with teams in the championship and challengers' brackets.
Liberty-Eylau earned first in Pool A with a 3-0 record, followed by Queen City in second, Chapel Hill third, and Linden-Kildare fourth.
Hughes Springs went 3-0 and are the first seed from Pool B. Mount Vernon was second, Paul Pewitt third, and James Bowie fourth.
Redwater won all three of its matches and is the top seed from Pool C. Atlanta earned the second seed, Columbia Christian third, and Maud was fourth.
Redwater plays Mount Vernon at 9 a.m. in the new gym in the championship bracket on Saturday. Queen City takes on Atlanta at 10 a.m.
Liberty-Eylau plays the Redwater-Mount Vernon winner at 11 a.m., and Hughes Springs takes on the Queen City-Atlanta winner at noon.

Pool A
Liberty-Eylau 2, Linden-Kildare 0
Amoiya Gentry slapped in 13 service points and had seven kills to lead the Lady Leopards over the Lady Tigers, 25-23, 25-22.
Taylor Crabtree had 11 digs for Liberty-Eylau, while teammates Derrica Henderson and Kyana Norman added five kills each.
Siarra Johnson led Linden Kildare with 11 service points.
Queen City 2, Chapel Hill 1
Madison Jones served in 11 winners and had five blocks as the Lady Bulldogs outlasted Chapel Hill, 25-20, 15-25, 26-24.
Jessica Jones and Abby Watkins helped out with 10 kills each for Queen City.
Jade Hill paced Chapel Hill with 15 service points.

Liberty-Eylau 2, Queen City 0
Gentry had 11 service points as the Leopard defeated the Bulldogs, 25-21, 26-24.
Daycoria Meadows put down seven kills, and teammate Keeley Norris had six. Crabtree made 10 digs, and Kelly Cigainero added 19 assists for L-E.
Jones paced Queen City with nine service points, while teammate Watkins hammered down 13 kills. Jessica Jones and Jacie Lance had nine kills each.

Kaliyah Thompson served in nine winners as the Leopards defeated the Lady Red Devils, 25-21, 25-23.
Crabtree made 10 digs, Keeley Norris and Gentry put down five kills each, and Henderson had four blocks for L-E.
Ashley Peterson led Chapel Hill with five service points.

Queen City 2, Linden-Kildare 1
Lance had 14 kills and five service points as the Bulldogs came back to defeated the Tigers, 12-25, 25-22, 25-20.
Watikins helped out with 12 kills, Payton Beckham made 18 assists, and Macey Belote had five blocks for Queen City.
Peyton Turner paced Linden-Kildare with eight service points.

Chapel Hill 2, Linden-Kildare 0
Jade Hill served in a day-high 23 service points as the Red Devils defeated the Tigers, 25-20, 25-20.
Johnson was the top server for L-K with 14 winners.

Mount Vernon 2, Paul Pewitt 0
Sam Lowry served in 10 winners as the Lady Tigers rolled past the Lady Brahmas, 25-13, 25-17.
Calli Osmon and Ebbony Cobbins had two service points each for Pewitt.

Hughes Springs 2, James Bowie 0
Braylee Taylor slapped in nine service points, and the Lady Mustangs won, 25-13, 25-16.
Emily Lathem had four service points for the Lady Pirates.

Peyton Blythe led the Mustangs with 13 service winners in the 25-9, 20-25, 25-19 win.

Brelee Lawings served in 10 winners, and the Brahmas defeated the Pirates, 25-22, 25-9.
Josie Stubblefield led James Bowie with six service points.

Karley Morrow had four kills for Redwater, while teammate Ally Walston made four digs.
Maci McMahan served in four points for Columbia.

Morrow hit in seven winners, and the Dragons rolled past Maud, 25-8, 25-13.

Macy Lamkin slapped in six points to lead the Crusaders over the Cardinals, 25-19, 25-19.
Yates was the high-point server for the Cardinals with nine points, and teammate Makenna Jones put down seven kills.
