THS girls unbeaten in tourney

WILLS POINT, Texas-Texas High's varsity volleyball team went 3-0 in the first day of the Wills Point tournament Friday.

Olivia Lower had 26 service points, 11 kills and six digs to lead the Lady Tigers over Princeton, 25-9, 22-25, 25-11. Teammate Vicki Willis helped out with 14 service points.

Willis slapped in 15 service points and made eight digs as Texas High defeated Commerce, 25-19, 13-25, 25-15. Kaitlyn Cross had 13 service points and nine kills, while Trey Rush served in 12 points, made 14 assists and had five kills.

Rush and Lower served in 13 points each to lead the Tigers past Overton, 25-9, 25-11.

Texas High won its pool and plays today at 10 a.m.

On Thursday, Texas High fell to Whitehouse, 25-14, 25-12, 20-25, 25-22. Cross had 13 kills, five blocks and 17 service points for the Tigers.

Texas High's Rush put down 17 kills, made 14 assists and served in nine points, while teammate Mia Wilson had 16 service points.

In the other double header match Rush had 19 kills, 13 assists and nine blocks, but Texas lost to Robert E. Lee, 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 26-28, 15-4.

Katelyn Jordan served in 22 points and made 17 assists for the Tigers.

 

Lady Hawks sweep

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Sydney had 16 service points as Pleasant Grove swept New Boston, 25-11, 28-26, 25-19 at Lion Gym.

Britton Anderson put down 11 kills, and teammate Kaylee Kelley made 23 assists for the Lady Hawks.

Grace Duffer paced the Lady Lions with seven service points, McKenzee Thomas had four kills, and Carlee Ratcliff made 35 digs.

Madeline Haak slapped in 11 service points to lead Pleasant Grove's junior varsity A to a 25-16, 25-19 win over New Boston. Lauren Hurst served in 12 points for the Lions.

Abby Davidson had 12 service points as Pleasant Grove won the junior varsity B match, 25-8, 25-15. Jenna Henson had five service points for New Boston.

Maud wins in four sets

MAUD, Texas-Maud defeated Atlanta in varsity volleyball at home in four sets, 25-17, 26-24, 13-25, 25-22.

Harley Dear led the Lady Cardinals with 20 assists.

Riley Murphy added 11 kills and 15 service points for Maud.

Makenna Jones and Brianna Barnette, each contributed 10 digs for the Lady Cardinals.

Dymond Grant led Atlanta with 15 service points.

The Lady Cardinals are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Paul Pewitt at 4:30.

 

Hooks Takes Two

HOOKS, Texas-Hooks defeated Detroit in varsity volleyball at home, 25-10, 25-19, 25-17. Abby Russ led the Lady Hornets with 12 service points and Emma Farquhar added 13 service points, with 14 digs. Marena Estell finished with six kills and two blocks.

The Lady Hornets defeated Jefferson, 25-14, 25-10, 25-11. Kenley Kyles finished with 13 service points and 20 assists. Lexi Frachiseur added 12 service points, nine kills and two blocks.

Hooks junior varsity squad fell to Detroit, 17-25, 14-25. Meagan Reiter led the Lady Hornets with seven service points.
