Hawks soar to win Gunslinger Tournament

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Pleasant Grove won the New Boston Gunslinger Tournament in both the girls and boys division Saturday night at Lion Gym.

The Lady Hawks shook district rival Liberty-Eylau in the finals, 47-38.

Monique Walker paced PG offensively through the game, finishing with a team-high 15 points and Madeline Haak ended with 13 points.

Taylor Crabtree gave a valiant effort, dropping a game-high 17 points for the Lady Leopards.

In the boys final, Paris fought back to force overtime against the Hawks.

Pleasant Grove controlled the up-and-down contest, before Paris began to play a swarming full-court defense.

Kamern Woods scored a game-high 23 points leading PG to the title.

Noah Fawbush added 11 points for the Hawks.

Chris Jones and John Dennis each scored 13 points for Paris.

 

BOYS

Liberty-Eylau 67, Hope 45

Decorian Phillips led the Liberty-Eylau to a third place finish with his game-high 21 points against Hope.

Kameron Green added 10 points for the Leopards.

Antwone Casteel led the Bobcats offensively with 15 points and Jalani Davis added 13 points on the night.

 

Daingerfield 78, Liberty-Eylau JV 69

Jimmerson led Daingerfield over the Leopards junior varsity squad, finishing with 15 points for the Tigers.

Deanthony Price led L-E with 15 points, while teammates Damion Henderson and Javon Hunter each finished with 14 points for the Leopards.

Clarksville 47, New Boston 46

Neo Scales game-high 14 points was enough to lead the Tigers past New Boston in a nail-biter.

Deaundre Robinson led the host squad with 13 points and Sam Sanchez poured in 10 points.

GIRLS

Fouke 69, Arkansas High 54

Hannah Mauldin and Taylor Hardin each dropped 19 points in a win over the Lady Backs. Lakyn Smallwood added 12 points for the Lady Panthers.

Tiara Holliman led all scorers, dropping 25 points for Arkansas High and Ced Daniels added 10 points.

Tamiya Smith led the host squad over the Lady Tigers, finishing with 13 points.

Chloe Davis added 11 points for New Boston in the rout.

Hope 53, Liberty Eylau JV 35

Genesis Muldrow led the Lady Bobcats in the rout of L-E with her game-high 14 points and Ranayzia Miller added 12 points.

Kurstyne Bailey led the Lady Leopards with a team-high 10 points in the contest.
