Arkansas High left no question that this year's squad is poised for a playoff push.

Arkansas High dismantled Greenwood at home in front of a packed Razorback Gym for the first playoff game, 72-42.

Missed shots and mental mistakes plagued the Razorbacks in the first period.

The first quarter ended with AHS clawing for the lead, 19-17.

Greenwood was able to keep the ball in the middle of the floor, which to any basketball connoisseur, is the answer to a swarming full-court press defense.

Arkansas High senior guard Kyndal Martin started to heat up in the second quarter. Martin willed AHS to a 11-point lead at the 7:00 mark. Martin was also perfect from the charity stripe, draining all five attempts.

Martin finished the night with a game-high 20 points for the Hogs.

"This is our 20th win," Arkansas High head coach Sam Weaver said. "I don't know when the last time AHS had 20 wins but I'm glad we accomplished that tonight. Our kids made that possibly and I'm extremely proud of them."

Taviron Oliver proved once again that the middle periods are his time to shine. The senior completed the night with 16 points but it was his burst of energy in the second and third quarter, which proved to be the push the Hogs needed to cruise to victory.

Oliver scored 10 of his 16 points in the middle quarters.

The first half was sloppy for both squads.

The second quarter ended with the Bulldogs trailing the Hogs, 39-28.

Arkansas High forced 17 turnovers, while only committing six.

The Razorbacks also accumulated a bevy of blocks. Arkansas High had 10 blocks on the night, more than any other game this season.

Once the third quarter began, Arkansas High returned to its full-court press, which has brought this year's squad success in past games.

The Hogs were able to complete more transition buckets in the third quarter, which added to the favorable lead.

The third quarter ended with Arkansas High cruising, 54-38.

The Hogs received productive minutes from reserves such as Deon Lane and Michael Caldwell. Lane finished the game with nine points and Caldwell finished the night with eight points and snatched six boards.

The Bulldogs had three players to score in double-digits. Zane Harmon and Jordan Sheppard, each scored 11 points for Greenwood. Ronin Stweart added 10 points for his efforts for the Bulldogs.

Arkansas High continued to blow past Greenwood defenders to begin the fourth quarter.

Hog forward Johnny Gullatt had a progressive night in the paint. The lanky, post-player poured in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Razorbacks.

Weaver took his foot off the gas midway through the fourth quarter, with his squad up by more than 20 points.

"We have to keep this momentum going, we play here Tuesday and hopefully we can get another win," Weaver said.

Arkansas High sailed to victory over the visitors from Northwest Arkansas, 72-42.

Arkansas High is back in conference tournament action on Tuesday, hosting Benton at 6 p.m.
