McLeod routs Yantis in final tune-up

TYLER, Texas-McLeod throttled Yantis in boys' basketball, 70-36, before the Longhorns begin their playoff run.

Colby Smith led the Horns offense, scoring a game-high 23 points. JR Smith added 17 points, Blake Williams chipped in 14 points and Zach Prince contributed 12 points for McLeod.

J.C. Nolen led Yantis offensively, scoring a team-high 10 points.

McLeod is currently 27-6 on the season.

Cameron Gulley led the Go-Devils offensively, pouring in a game-high 28 points. BJ Brewer chipped in 20 points for Gurdon.

Cody Baker led Cossatot River offense, pouring in a team-high 25 points. Trevon Branch added 16

Parker Sutton let the Knights offense, scoring a team-high 21 points. Keenan Owens added 14 points and Owen Bright contributed 12 points for Centerpoint.

Bralyn Wilson steered the Curley Wolves offense, scoring a game-high 25 points. Quanta Gulley added 10 points for Prescott.

Centerpoint will play Fordyce on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in
Prescott.

Prescott will host Junction City on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.

GENOA, Ark.-Genoa Central's varsity girls' squad, won the battle of the bridge, this time in the district tournament finals.

OBU-signee Eden Crow led the Lady Dragons offense, scoring a game-high 32 points to go along with her 13 rebounds. Victoria Hill contributed 18 points for Genoa Central.

Hannah Mauldin led the Lady Panthers offensively, pouring in a team-high 17 points.

Fouke plays Fordyce in Prescott on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Genoa Central takes on McGhee at 4 p.m. in Prescott on Wednesday.

Sulphur Springs Invitational

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas-Texas High defeated Gilmer in their first game of the day in the Sulphur Springs tournament, 2-0.

The winning pitcher was Lindsey Egger. Egger only gave up one hit in the contest.

Braley Turner and Kynzie Dickson each drove in runs for the Lady Tigers.

THS lost its second game to McKinney, 1-0.

International tie-breaker rules were enacted due to the draw at the end of the game.

Texas High finished the tournament 4-1.

The Lady Tigers are back in action next week at the Allen Invitational.

 

Hooks sweep

HOOKS, Texas-Hooks defeated Maud in varsity softball, 13-0.

Marina Estell was the winning pitcher.

Kenley Kyles drove in two runs and Emma Farquhar added an RBI for the Lady Hornets.

Hooks defeated Pleasant Grove in varsity softball action, 16-0.

Estell was the winning pitcher.

Rachel Latimer had a three-run home run in the fourth inning.

Brandi Hout added two RBIs and Estell chipped in four RBIs for Hooks. Latimer finished the night with five RBIs for the Lady Hornets.

Hooks hosts Liberty-Eylau on Tuesday.
