Shewmaker sets record in Lady Tigers' win

MARSHALL, Texas-Rachael Shewmaker kicked herself into the record books for the Lady Tigers.

Texas High defeated Marshall, 5-0.

Shewmaker became the first Tiger athlete to score 80 goals in their career. Shewmaker has 81 goals for her career and 24 this season.

Sarah Rogers scored the first goal for Texas High in the 15th minute, with the assist going to Grace McGuire.

Shewmaker scored off a penalty kick in the 25th minute.

Anna Morgan scored the third goal of the game in the 32nd minute, which was assisted by McGuire.

Shewmaker scored her second goal in the 52nd minute, with the assist going to Morgan. This was Shewmaker's 80th goal.

The final score came off an assist from Morgan to Shewmaker, who completed the hat trick with 20 seconds left in the match.

Texas High won the jayvee match, 6-0.

Kayla Teague scored three goals, Kaylee Johnson added two goals and Muncy Martinez chipped one in for the Lady Tigers.

Texas High is 15-1-3 overall and 5-1-1 in district competition.

THS is back in action Tuesday, hosting Sulphur Springs.

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Hughes Springs throttled PG in varsity softball action.

Kensley Echols was the winning pitcher for the Lady Mustangs.

Sophomore Haylee Wilson hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Peyton Blythe added three RBIs for Hughes Springs.

Madison Allen contributed one RBI for Pleasant Grove.
