Dragons hoard points for 9-1 win over Jefferson

JEFFERSON, Texas-Jamey Vaitkus struck out eight, earned the win and went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI to lead the Dragons over the Rebels 9-1 in the Jefferson baseball tournament.

Ryan Seddons was 2 for 4 with a triple, a single, and 2 RBI for Redwater, while teammate John Michael Russ was 2 for 3 with a triple and a single. The Dragons' Justin White had one hit and 2 RBI.

Ore City's Colton Weir went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles.

Redwater takes on James Bowie at 8:15 a.m. today in the tournament.

L-K tournament

LINDEN, Texas-DeKalb edged out Linden-Kildare in four innings, 5-4.

Dalton Hanna pitched the distance for the Bears and collected five strikeouts.

Wyatt Lavergne, Tristen Jamison, D. J. Gray all drove in runs for DeKalb.

DeKalb committed two errors and L-K committed one.

Waskom throttled Daingerfied, 15-0.

Ty Carter had three RBIs for the Wildcats. Jon Mike Hicks, Jacob Norris and Logan O'Connor each contributed two RBI apiece.

Jacobe Alexander was the winning pitcher during the contest.

New Boston defeated Elysian Fields, 6-5.

Jake Bobbitt added three RBIs for the Lions and Tyler Graham chipped in two RBIs.

Bobbitt was also the winning pitcher during the contest.

Liberty-Eylau's jayvee defeated Queen City, 6-4.

Trevarian Hodge led the Leopard bats with two RBIs. Cody Allen, Marzavian Riles and Andrew Ryther drove in one run apiece.

Spencer Aldridge was the winner pitcher during the match.

 

Girls Basketball

PRESCOTT 60,
GENOA CENTRAL 48

PRESCOTT, Ark.-Haleigh Wiley scored 21 points as the Lady Curley Wolves defeated the Lady Dragons inside the Curley Wolves' gym.

Victoria Hill paced Genoa Central with 26 points.

The Lady Wolves trailed 24-20 at halftime, but used a strong third quarter to build a 3-point lead.

Prescott outscored the Dragons, 30-18, in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Lacie Nolen added 14 points for Prescott.

Lady Lions sweep two

New Boston defeated Avery, 20-0, and Marshall, 16-2, in softball action.

MacKenzie Thomas had two hits, including a homer, to knock in three runs for the Lady Lions against Avery. Madison Thomas added a pair of triple and an RBI, Emily McAlexander 3 RBI, Carley Ratcliff 2 RBI and Angel Evans 2 RBI.

Morgan McAlexander was the winning pitcher.

McAlexander also picked up the win against the Lady Mavericks. Alicia Henderson paced New Boston with a double an 2RBI, Emily McAlexander added a double and 4 RBI and Grace Duffer a single and an
RBI.
