Arkansas High splits games against De Queen, Ashdown

Softball

ASHDOWN, Ark.-Arkansas High split its games against De Queen and Ashdown, to begin the softball season.

AHS fell to DeQueen, 5-1.

Kailey Burns had a RBI double that scored Kaitlyn Fortenberry, who got on base from a walk. Karen Camacho added a single for the Lady Backs.

Fortenberry gave up two hits and stuck out three in the contest.

The Lady Backs defeated Ashdown, 5-1.

Ajahi Cheatham led the AHS bats with a double. Burns, Camacho and Fortenberry added singles. Fortenberry gave up one hit during the match and also struck out one hitter.

Arkansas High is back in action Monday, hosting Liberty-Eylau at 4:30.

 

Texas High 1, Coppell 0

ALLEN, Texas-Texas High edged out Coppell in the sixth inning, 1-0.

Mabry Smith pitched the Tigers to victory with 10 strikeouts.

Braley Turner led the Lady Tigers' bats, swinging a single and double. Kenzie Dickson smacked in the games' sole RBI.

The Lady Tigers travels across the state line to take on Arkansas High on
Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Texas High is 7-3 overall.

 

Redwater 5, Pleasant Grove 0, 1st Game

Hooks 6, Pleasant Grove 5, 2nd Game

LONGVIEW, Texas-The Lady Dragons blanked Pleasant Grove during the first game of the day at the Longview Invitational.

Redwater collected seven hits on the day.

Hooks edged out the Lady Hawks in their second contest of the day.

The Lady Hawks smacked seven hits during the contest.

Khadijah Oritola smacked three RBIs for Pleasant Grove. Kaylee Kelley added one for the Lady Hawks.

Pleasant Grove is back in action on Monday, hosting De Queen.

 

Golf

LINDALE, Texas-Texas High's golf team finished third in a pool of 14 teams.

Zayne Madden tied for third individually with a score of 157.

Quentin Green finished with a score of 157, Matt Prieskorn finished scoring 166, Ryan Hall finished with a score of 170, Alex Davis finished at 191 and Will Patterson scored
178.

Texas High finished with a team score of 662.

Baseball

Elysian Fields 4,
Queen City 3

LINDEN, Texas-Elysian Fields defeated Queen City on the road in the Linden-Kildare Invitational.

The Bulldogs out hit Elysian Field eight to two.

Kyle Parker and Hunter Fitts each drove in one run for the Bulldogs.

Queen City is 1-2 overall and back in action Thursday in the Big Sandy Invitational.

New Boston defeated Liberty-Eylau, 13-2.

Tyler Strain was the winning pitcher for the Lions.

Jake Bobbitt and Phillip Sissons each drove in three RBIs. Casey Braley addes two RBIs.

DeKalb defeat Waskom, 4-2.

Cash Palmore was the winning pitcher for DeKalb.

Wyatt Lavergne, Dylan Hanna, D. J. Gray and Parker Barrett each gained a hit for the Bears.

Linden-Kildare beat Daingerfield, 5-0.

Caleb Cunningham went the distance for the Tigers to get the win.

Davion Tyson and Cunningham each smacked a hit for Linden-Kildare.

 

McKinney 11,
Texas High 7

DENTON, Texas-Texas High fell to McKinney under the lights at the Russell Athletic Invitational.

The Tigers bats were hot with 10 hits.

Eric Sutton had two hits and two RBIs, Kyle Choate added three hits and two RBIs and Colby Adkins added a RBI for Texas High.

 

James Bowie 4, Redwater 2, 1st Game

James Bowie 13, Prairiland 4, 2nd Game

JEFFERSON, Texas-James Bowie edged out Redwater in their first game of the day.

Bailey Obenoskey was the winning pitcher for the Pirates.

Obenoskey led the Pirates' bats with three RBIs. Caige Crowley also added a RBI.

The Pirates throttled Prairiland in their second contest in the Jefferson Invitational.

Evan Barron was the winning pitcher for James Bowie.

Barron added two RBIs while he was at the plate.

Obenoskety smacked in two RBIs and Dalton McBride led the way with three RBIs.

 

Carthage 5,
Liberty-Eylau 4

LONGVIEW, Texas-Carthage edged out the Leopards at the end in six innings in the semifinals of the Field of Dreams
Invitational.

Bryan Moore and Darian Walker each had two hits for Liberty-Eylau. Walker added two RBIs.

The Leopards aggressive base running allowed them to steal eight bases.

Liberty-Eylau is back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Carthage.

 

Pleasant Grove 9,
Pine Tree 7, 1st Game

Pleasant Grove 11, Carthage 4

LONGVIEW, Texas-Pleasant Grove defeated Pine Tree in varsity boys's baseball.

Nathan Brinkley was the winning pitcher for the Hawks. Brinkley also added a hit for Pleasant Grove.

Caleb Bolden slapped two hits and two RBIs for the Hawks. Will Hlavinka and Cade Thompson each had a hit for Pleasant
Grove.

Pleasant Grove throttled Carthage in their second game of the day.

Tyler Jean hit for the cycle to lead the Hawks over the Bulldogs. Jean's home-run came in the fifth inning.

Pleasant Grove is 4-1 overall.

The Hawks will host Arkadelphia on Tuesday at Hawk Field.

 

Basketball

Genoa Central 54, Fouke 52

PRESCOTT, Ark.-Genoa Central edged out Fouke in varsity girls' basketball.

OBU-signee Eden Crow poured in a team-high 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Genoa Central. Victoria Hill added 18 points for the Lady Dragons.

Hannah Mauldin led the Lady Panthers' offensive attack, scoring a game-high 25 points.

Genoa Central will take on Jessieville at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Bald Knob.

Fouke will play Lamar on Tuesday in Bald Knob at 7 p.m.
