Razorbacks roll out with excellent scores

Arkansas High's boys bowling team improved to 3-0, and the Lady Backs swept Hot Springs, 13-0, Thursday at Holiday Bowl.

The AHS boys won, 8-5, with Connor Bullard rolling a 333 series. Austin Nix added a 327 series for the Razorbacks.

Linda Himes scored a 375 series for the Lady Backs (2-1).

Arkansas High hosts defending state champion Cabot at 4 p.m. today.

Lady Tigers take wins

LONGVIEW, Texas-Texas High won two games in the Spring Hill Lady Panther Invitational.

The Lady Tigers edged Jacksonville, 2-1, with Rachael Shewmaker finding the net twice for THS. Shewmaker scored with an assist from Mya Bowers in the first half and had the game-winner on a cross from Ariel Heiker in the second half. Emma Wolf was another standout in the match.

In the second game, Texas High shut out Spring Hill, 3-0. Heiker scored on Sarah Rogers' cornerkick, and Anna Morgan assisted the next two scores. Morgan set up Shewmaker for a goal to make it 2-0, and she assisted Rogers as THS took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

The Tigers play Kilgore's junior varsity and varsity today and face Nacogdoches on Saturday.

 

Subvarsity Basketball

Lady Hawks win 3

Pleasant Grove won all three games over visiting Atlanta.

The Lady Hawks' 8th grade A team won, 58-11, with Abbie Flournoy and Macy Young scoring 12 points apiece. Katie Ferguson added 10 points.

PG won the 7th grade A game, 36-10, led by Peyton Matthews' 11 points. The Hawks won the B game, 25-8. Emma Crabtree scored nine, and Jazz Moses had eight.

 

Lady Horns top Clarksville

MCLEOD, Texas-McLeod won the junior high girls game over Clarksville, 42-23.

Gracie Lance scored 13 for the Lady Horns, and Sibbie Comer added 12.

 

Lady Cougars edge AHS

Lafayette County nipped Arkansas High's freshmen, 34-32.

Fortunate Barry had 10 points for the Lady Backs.

 

TMS takes 3 of 4

Texas Middle School defeated Hallsville in 3 of 4 games, including a 32-11 win in the 8th grade A game.

Nazaya Williams scored 10 for the Lady Tigers, and Ashlyn Stiger had eight. Kimicia Jones had 11 points in the B team's 24-7 win.

TMS took a 44-8 victory in the 7th grade A game, and Samyah Smith and Ashanti Northcross scored 14 points apiece.

Hallsville won the B game, 22-19. Logan Pilgreen had six for Texas Middle School.

 

RL wins 2 of 3

RED LICK, Texas-Red Lick won both 7th grade games over New Boston, securing a 37-16 decision in the 7th grade A game.

Ann Elise Lindsay led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points, and Addison Alexander and Izzy Hackleman had nine each. Amya Walker led the Lady Lions with eight points.

Red Lick won the 7th B game, 25-17, with Izzy Daniels scoring 11 points. Delaney Edwards added six for the Mustangs, and Kaleigh Henson scored six for New Boston.

Tamay Smith scored 13 to help lead the Lions to a 46-22 win in the 8th A game. Emma Holland added 10 for NB, and Peyton Sims and Taylor Hicks scored six apiece for Red Lick.

Lady Leopards split

Liberty-Eylau's 7th grade beat visiting North Lamar, 38-8, with Bryana Block scoring 17 points. Taliyah James added nine for the Lady Leopards.

North Lamar won the 8th grade game, 31-25. Ureka Vaughn had nine for L-E, and Tamara Norris contributed seven.

Liberty-Eylau plays in the New Boston tournament Saturday.

 

DeKalb wins 7th games

DEKALB, Texas-DeKalb won both 7th grade games, and Queen City took the 8th grade contests.

Emily Murphy poured in 21 points for the Lady Bears' 7th grade A game in a 47-10 win, and Aniyah Johnson added 12. DeKalb wont he B game, 16-6, with Kalynn Alvares scoring eight for the Bears. Jade Whitehead scored six for the Lady Bulldogs.

Queen City won the 8th grade A game, 29-7. Macie Motes had three points for the Bears. QC won the B game, 18-9. Alexus Phillips led DeKalb with five.

 

Longhorns remain unbeaten

MCLEOD, Texas-McLeod's 8th grade boys improved to 7-0 with a 35-21 win over Clarksville.

Gabe Graves scored eight for the Longhorns, and Nathan Parker added six.

 

Hogs down Cougars

Arkansas High's junior varsity beat Lafayette County, 56-35.

Kameron Dockery led the Razorbacks with 17 points, Micah Yarber chipped in with 14 and Tashari Easter had nine.

 

Tigers sweep four games

HALLSVILLE, Texas-Texas Middle School won all four games over Hallsville, needing overtime to pull out a 44-40 win in the 8th grade A game.

Ben Depriest scored 16 to lead the Tigers, Rian Cellers added 15 and Caleb Arnold had 12.

TMS' 8th grade B team won, 48-33. Trey Lavender scored 15, and Keegan Vason had 14.

Braylan Stewart scored 15 points to help the 7th grade A team win, 32-19. Braden Hall had eight points in the B team's 25-15 win.

 

Lions win trio

NEW BOSTON, Texas-New Boston won all three games over Red Lick, with the Lions 8th grade taking a 46-22 victory.

Kevon Thompson scored 14 for the Lions, and Josh Packard added 10. Nate Henry had eight for the Mustangs.

Malachi Dorsey scored 13 points in New Boston's 30-23 win of the 7th grade A game. Brock Norton led Red Lick with eight points. New Boston won the B game, 12-11.

 

Dragons top HS

REDWATER, Texas-Redwater's 7th grade team improved to 5-0 with a 34-19 win over Hughes Springs, led by Malcolm Brown's 19 points. Case Brown paced the Mustangs with eight points.

Redwater's 8th grade won, 45-31, to improve to 4-1. Preston Davis led the Dragons with 17 points, and Jake Huckaby, Rolan Smith and Logan Johnson had seven apiece.

Redwater plays at Daingerfield next Thursday.

 

Bulldogs win pair

QUEEN CITY, Texas-Queen City won a pair of junior high game, including a 30-23 victory in the 8th grade game over DeKalb.

Terunte Neal poured in 20 points for the Bulldogs (2-2). Tye Olson had seven points for the Bears.

Arlander White led the QC 7th grade (3-1) to a 33-19 win with 12 points.
