Texas High, Pleasant Grove girls play to ties in Lion Invitational

HALLSVILLE, Texas-Texas High and Pleasant Grove girls' soccer teams played to ties Thursday in the Hallsville Lion Invitational tournament.

 

Texas High 0, Little Elm 0

Texas High's girls tied a good Little Elm team.

"I thought it was a real good tie against a quality Dallas-Fort Worth team," Lady Tiger head coach Dustin Holly said. "It puts us in position to win our group against Dallas Hillcrest."

Emma Wolf, SJ Paddock, Grace McGuire and goalie Summer Stussy were defensive standouts for Texas High.

The Tigers play Dallas Hillcrest today at 9 a.m.

 

Pleasant Grove 0, Whitehouse 0

Pleasant Grove held steady against Whitehouse in girls soccer on Thursday. The Lady Hawks tied for the second time this year in their second game of the year.

Sophomore standout goalie Avery Jensen, had eight saves on the night. Pleasant Grove coaches praised the play of the defensive back line. PG started two freshmen, Presley Hargrove and Madison Summitt. Junior defender Brookelyn Ramsey and defensive senior captain Celeigh Redden completed the Lady Hawks defensively.

Pleasant Grove (0-0-2) takes on Pine Tree at 10 a.m. and Lindale at 4 p.m.

 

Sub Varsity Basketball

Liberty-Eylau swept Atlanta in both 7th and 8th grade games.

The Lady Leopards defeated Atlanta in 7th grade girls action, 44-17.

Bryana Block steered the L-E offensive onslaught, dropping a game-high 21 points on the night. Kayla Crabtree contributed 17 points in the Leopards rout.

Liberty-Eylau is 9-3 overall this season.

The Lady Leopard's 8th grade squad defeated Atlanta, 30-19.

Tamara Norris paced the L-E attack, dropping 11 points in the contest. Ureka Vaughn dropped 10 points for the Lady Leopards.

Liberty-Eylau (7-5) is back in action next Thursday traveling to Pittsburg.

 

PG JH girls win four

Pleasant Grove won all four junior high games at Hawk Gym.

Macy Young connected for eight points as the Lady Hawks' 8th grade A routed Pittsburg 36-3.

Emma Sanderson had a game-high eight points, and PG won the 8th B game 18-3.

Aniyah Allen scored five points to lead the Hawks to a 24-5 win in the 7th A game.

Maci Hadaway paced Pleasant Grove's 7th B with seven points, and the Hawks shut out the Lady Pirates 23-0.

 

Lady Dragons sweep Tigers

REDWATER, Texas-Karsyn Graf had a game-high 10 points to lead Redwater to a 22-9 win over Daingerfield in the 8th A game.

Joi Akinsuroju paced the Lady Tigers with five points.

Reagan Markham lit up the nets for 25 points, and Redwater won the 7th A game 36-26. Daingerfield's Ashlyn Bruce swished in 11 points.

 

DeKalb wins 3, ties Hooks

HOOKS, Texas-Kiley Ivey paced DeKalb's 8th A with five points as it edged Hooks 21-17.

Reagan Reiter scored five for the Lady Hornets.

The Lady Bears won the 8th B game 12-9.

Emily Murphy and Anyaih Johnson poured in 19 points each as DeKalb routed Hooks in the 7th A game 60-13.

The Bears and Hornets tied in the 7th B game at 11-all.

 

McLeod JH goes 2-0

McLEOD, Texas-Jillian Parker hooped up 10 points to lead McLeod's 8th grade to a 33-6 win over Detroit.

The Lady Horns' Amanda Bertrand scored 10 and McLeod won the 7th grade game 27-7.

 

Clarksville's 8th wins

LINDEN, Texas-Madison Gill had a game-high 12 points, and Clarksville won the 8th grade game 22-9.

Hayley Mason had four points for Linden-Kildare.

 

Lady Lions, Mustangs split

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Hughes Springs defeated New Boston in the 7th grade girls' game, 31-20.

Karmen Searcy led Hughes Springs offensively, scoring a game-high 16 points in the contest.

Olivia Duffer led the Lady Lions offensively, scoring a team-high seven points.

New Boston beat Hughes Springs in the 8th grade game, 32-20.

Tamiyah Smith led the Lady Lions offense, scoring a game-high 12 points.

Adriana Kennedy led Hughes Springs offensively, dropping eight points on the night.

 

Boys

Queen City sweeps Red Lick

RED LICK, Texas-Queen City squeaked by Red Lick in its 8th grade boys' game, 26-23.

Landon Yeatman led all scorers, dropping 13 points for his Mustang squad. Nate Henry chipped in 10 points for Red Lick.

Derrick Alexander paced Queen City offensively, scoring 10 points.

Queen City defeated Red Lick in the 7th grade A game. 26-13.

Kenyen Washington led all scorers, dropping 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Martin Haley scored seven points for the Mustangs.

The Bulldogs defeated Red Lick in the 7th grade B game, 19-9.

Cedric Davis paced the Bulldogs, scoring seven points in the contest.

Carter Prewitt led the Mustangs offensively, scoring four points.

 

TMS throttles Pine Tree

Texas Middle School defeated Pine Tree in the 8th grade A game, 43-31.

Gavon Smith led all scorers, dropping 16 points for his Tiger squad. Ben DePriest contributed 11 points in the victory.

TMS won the 8th grade Bgame against Pine Tree, 34-18.

Keenan Vayson and Dashun White each scored eight points for the Tigers.

The Tigers devoured Pine Tree 54-10 in the 7th grade A game.

Braylon Stewart led all scorers, dropping a game-high 14 points for TMS. Jayden Godwin scored 10 points for the Tigers.

TMS throttled Pine Tree in the 7th grade B game, 39-12.

Brandon Hall led the Tigers, dropping eight points on the night.

 

Rabbs, Leopards split

ATLANTA, Texas-Atlanta defeated Liberty-Eylau in 8th grade boys' action, 35-30.

Alex Boston led the Rabbits offensively, scoring 11 points for his squad.

L-E beat Atlanta in the 7th grade game, 22-18.

Atlanta is back in action Saturday at the Atlanta Middle School Boys' Invitational.

 

Hooks, DeKalb split

DeKALB, Texas-Hooks and DeKalb won two games apiece with the Hornets winning both 7th grade games, and the Bears won both 8th grade games.

Ramaj Vaughn scored nine points as DeKalb won the 8th A game 41-39. Dolph Culwell had a game-high 17 for Hooks.

Trenton Cooke and Rayvaughn Perkins scored five points each as the Bears took the 8th B game 15-10. Gage Campbell had four points for the Hornets.

Johnnie Jones hooped in 12 points to lead Hooks to a 30-21 victory in the 7th A game. Peyton Yandle paced DeKalb with seven points.

BJ Beasley had seven points for the Hornets in its 18-15 win in the 7th B game. Jose Vasquez had a team-high eight points for the Bears.

 

Longhorns go 1-1

McLEOD, Texas-Nathan Parker swished in eight points as McLeod's 8th grade rolled past Detroit 36-11. The Longhorns' 8th are 8-0.

Detroit won the 7th grade game 21-18. Tyler Williams, Hagan Courtney and Dillon Spears had four points each for the Longhorns.

 

Lions' 8th prevails

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Kyle Atkinson had a game-high 16 points as New Boston's 8th grade got by Hughes Springs 36-31.

 

Redwater sweeps Daingerfield

DAINGERFIELD, Texas-Redwater defeated Daingerfield in 8th grade action, 37-16.

Roland Smith led the Dragons offensively, dropping 13 points for Redwater. Dalton Roberson chipped in eight points during the contest.

The 8th grade Dragons are 5-1 on the season and are back in action at the Queen City Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Redwater defeated Daingerfield in 7th grade action, 25-19.

Malcolm Brown scored a game-high 14 points on the night for the Dragons. Jonathan Ketchum dropped five points for Redwater.

Redwater's 7th grade squad is undefeated on the season.

Both teams played a combined 7th and 8th grade squads for the B game, with Redwater edging out Daingerfield, 7-3.

Kyle Manadrich scored a game-high three points in the
contest.
