Mineral Springs falls in tourney

Girls

NASHVILLE, Ark.-Caddo Hills defeated Mineral Springs in girls' basketball, 53-51.

Rachel Dumont led the Lady Indians offensively, dropping a game-high 22 points during the contest.

Arianna Johnson led the Hornets offensive attack, scoring 16 points. Precious Johnson chipped in 14 points for Mineral Springs.

Acorn defeated Murfreesboro in the second game of the day, 63-40.

Ari Leper led Murfreesboro, pouring in a team-high 19 points.

Faith Hill scored 21 points for Acorn. Tori Barrett added 19 points in the rout.

 

Boys

Centerpoint defeated Mineral Springs on the boys' side of the bracket, 64-42.

Nashville throttled Murfreesboro, 73-18.

Dominic Kight led all scorers, pouring in a game-high 18 points for the Scrappers. Jamarta Gillam scored 14 points and Darius Hopkins added 12 points for Nashville.

Seventh- and Eighth-Grade
Atlanta Tournament

ATLANTA, Texas-Pleasant Grove's 7th grade boys' squad won the Atlanta Invitational over the weekend.

Pleasant Grove defeated McLeod, 41-14.

Traveler Couch led all scorers, dropping 14 during the game. Dylan Hopkins chipped in 10 points in the rout.

PG took down Atlanta in the championship game, 35-26.

Couch led his Hawks squad offensively, scoring 12 points in the contest. Teammate Kennon Kelley contributed 11 points in the win.

PG's 8th grade boys' basketball team also won the championship at the Atlanta Invitational.

PG throttled McLeod, 48-16.

Tvondrick Henry led the Hawks offensively, scoring 17 points in the contest. Teammates Marcus Burris and Landon Jackson each chipped in 10 points during the game.

The Hawks defeated Atlanta in the championship game, 59-39.

Henry led the Hawks in scoring, dropping 18 points for the game. Jackson and Burris poured in 10 points apiece for the Hawks. Brett Carmony contributed 12 points in the rout.

 

Hughes Springs seventh- and eighth-grade Tournament

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Paul Pewitt junior high girls' basketball teams won the Hughes Springs' Tournament.

Paul Pewitt's 8th grade squad beat Hooks, 50-3.

Mya Heath led all scorers, dropping a game-high 22 points for the Lady Brahmas. Calli Osmon added 16 points in the rout.

Paul Pewitt defeated Hughes Springs in the championship game, 27-13.

Heath led Paul Pewitt in scoring, dropping 10 points in the victory.

Paul Pewitt's 7th grade squad beat Hooks, 35-16.

Sydney Gentry led Paul Pewitt offensively scoring 21 points.

The Lady Brahmas defeated Hughes Springs in the championship game, 23-20.

Gentry paced Paul Pewitt offensively, scoring 12 points.

Genoa Central seventh -rade girls' tournament

GENOA, ARK.- Genoa Central defeated Fouke in the championship game in its 7th grade tournament, 13-7.

Sydney Hyman led Fouke in scoring, dropping six points in the contest.

Olivia Turley paced the Lady Dragons offensively, scoring five points.

 

Hooks junior varsity
girls' tournament

HOOKS, Texas-Liberty-Eylau defeated Hughes Springs in junior varsity girls' basketball, 29-18.

Key'Lexus Jackson led the Lady Leopard offense, scoring 14 points. Danielle Thomas added seven points for Liberty-Eylau.

L-E defeated Redwater in the championship game, 39-17.

Jackson scored 13 points and Thomas contributed 10 points in the rout.

 

Soccer

 

Third annual Greenville
Lady Lion Invitational

GREENVILLE, Texas-The Lady Tigers won third place at the Lady Lion Invitational.

The semifinal game with North Forney ended in a draw. THS lost in penalty kicks, 5-4.

THS defeated Greenville in the third-place match, 4-0.

Rachel Shewmaker scored for the Lady Tigers in the first two minutes. She was assisted by Ariel Heiker.

Sarah Rogers scored the second goal of the match on a cross from haley Goff.

Shewmaker scored her second goal of the match on an assist from Rogers.

Kayla Teague scored the final goal of the match on an assist from Mya Bowers.
