Hill, Crow lead Genoa girls past Prescott

GENOA, Ark.-Victoria Hill and Eden Crow combined for 40 points as Genoa Central sneaked by Prescott 50-47.

Hill and Crow lit up the nets for 20 points apiece. The Lady Dragons used a 17-11 third quarter to nudge the Lady Curley Wolves.

Prescott's Lacie Nolen led all scorers with 23.

Prescott won the junior varsity game 25-19.

Genoa Central is 15-4 and 3-1 in conference.

 

Paul Pewitt 42, Redwater 38

REDWATER, Texas-Paul Pewitt used a 14-point swing in the fourth quarter to overcome a 13-point halftime deficit against Redwater.

Jakayla Hawkins scored 13 points for the Lady Brahmas, and Taeya Jackson added 11.

Karli Boatright and Karlee Carmony poured in 12 points each for the Lady Dragons.

Redwater won the junior varsity game, 16-12. Bella Fernandez had nine for the Dragons, and Alice Moon had four for Pewitt.

Paul Pewitt hosts New Boston Friday, and Redwater travels to DeKalb.

 

Hooks 47, DeKalb 45

HOOKS, Texas-Korey Brooks ripped the cords for 18 points, and Hooks snapped a 4-game skid by holding off DeKalb late.

Brandi Hout added 14 points for the Lady Hornets (12-12, 4-4).

Mikayla Baxley paced the Lady Bears with 16 points.

Hailey Sutton led Hooks to a 35-29 win in the junior varsity game with eight points.

 

Camden Fairview 57, Hope 56

HOPE, Ark.-Tatyanna Smith kept the scorekeeper busy with 19 points, but Hope was edged by the Lady Cardinals.

Andria Curtis swished in 13, and Raley Potter added 10 for the Lady Bobcats.

Kynzi Morgan had a game-high 21 points for Camden Fairview.

Hope is 2-8, and the Lady Cardinals are 2-9.

 

North Lamar 50, Atlanta 41

ATLANTA, Texas-Keyona Easter scored 19 points and had eight steals, but the Lady Rabbits fell to the Tigers in a District 14-4A game.

Sheveonia Smith helped out with 13 points for Atlanta.

 

Maud 51, James Bowie 11

SIMMS, Texas-Maud throttled James Bowie in varsity game.

Bri Hemby led all scorers, dropping 16 points on the night. Lillie Love added 12 points for Maud.

Rachel Norman led James Bowie offensively, scoring five points.

Maud is back in action on Friday, traveling to Rivercrest.

Hughes Springs 23

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Queen City defeated Hughes Springs in varsity girls basketball Tuesday.

Jessica Jones led the Lady Bulldog rout, dropping 37 points and snagging 10 rebounds before the final whistle.

Bailey Simpson led Hughes Springs offensively with 8 points.

Hope 61, Camden Fairview 56

HOPE, Ark.-Hope edged out Camden in a meaningful conference clash Tuesday.

Markel Haynie led the Bobcats surge with 21 points on the night. Desmond McDonald added 12 points and TD Walton chipped in 11 points for Hope.

Jacob Jackson led the Cardinals offensively, dropping 14 points on the night. Niles Smith and Cedric Smith each contributed 10 points for Fairview before the final buzzer.

 

DeKalb 50, Hooks 49

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Tristen Jamison paced the Bears with 19 points, and DeKalb edged the Hornets.

Connor Price lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 21 points for Hooks.

Alex Clark added 12, and teammate Logan Corbett had 10 for the Bears.

Queen City tournament

Dragons claim titles

QUEEN CITY, Texas-Redwater won the boys 7th and 8th grade championships at the Queen City tournament over the weekend.

Preston Davis scored 12 for the 8th grade Dragons in a 27-23 win over the host Bulldogs to reach the finals. Gage Stiver had six in the 24-21 win over New Boston for the title.

In the 7th grade tournament, Redwater nipped QC, 27-23, with Malcolm Brown scoring 13 and Jonathan Kethcum adding seven. In the championship game, Brown scorched the nets for 22 during a 37-29 win over Red Lick.

 

Boys Soccer

 

Pleasant Grove 2, 

Texas High 0

Pleasant Grove defeated Texas High in varsity soccer in a thriller at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

Connor Crawford scored for the Hawks in the 70th minute of the match.

During the 76th minute, Tristen Williams zoomed a goal past the Tiger goalie, with the assist going to Crawford.

PG is back in action Friday, hosting Tatum at Hawk Stadium.

 

Girls Soccer

 

Texas High 1,
Pleasant Grove 0

Texas High edged out Pleasant Grove in varsity girls soccer during the last 60 seconds.

Racheal Shewmaker scored the lone goal in the 79th minute, to push her Lady Hawks to victory.

Lady Tigers out-shot PG 15-2.

Texas High is currently 9-0-2 overall.

Lady Tigers standouts include Emma Wolf, Jillian Ross, Anna Morgan and Mya Bowers.

"This was a great team win. We dominated the full 80 minutes and we're excited about the results," Texas High 8th year head coach Dustin Holly said.

Texas High is back in action on Saturday, traveling to Shreveport to take on Airline.
