Prescott boys, girls earn berths

BRADLEY, Ark.-Both Prescott basketball teams earned berths in the boys' and girls' championship games in the 2017 Southwest Arkansas Shootout basketball tournament Thursday.

Prescott's girls thumped Spring Hill 55-40, and Blevins ran past Emerson 50-40.

The Curley Wolves' boys beat Emerson 57-51, and Bradley defeated Trinity Christian 47-39.

Blevins and Prescott girls vie for first place Saturday at 6 p.m.

Prescott and Bradley follow at 7:30 for the boys' golden trophy.

 

Girls

Prescott 55,
Spring Hill 40

Lacie Nolen knocked down three treys and finished with a game-high 27 points as Prescott defeated the Lady Bears.

Katie Rivera paced Spring Hill with 15 points, while teammate Christy Randle added 14.

After taking a two-point lead at the half, the Lady Curley Wolves outscored the Bears 32-19 in the second half.

 

Blevins 50, Emerson 40

Amani Furlow lit up the nets for a game-high 22 points, and the Lady Hornets came from behind to win.

The Lady Bears had a two-point lead at halftime, but Blevins outscored them 31-19 in the last half of the game.

Lilly Edwards paced Emerson with a team-high 21 points.

Boys

Prescott 57,
Emerson 51

The Curley Wolves got 18 points from Jordan Glass and survived a scare from the
Pirates.

After taking a 13-point lead with six minutes in the fourth, Emerson crept to within five points with just over three minutes to go.

But the Curley Wolves milked the clock, finished strong and punched its ticket into the championship game.

Deonte Jameson scored 12 points, and Quantas Gulley contributed 10 for
Prescott.

Emerson's Jeff Jefferson ripped in 19 points, teammate Hunter McNiel had 11, and Deshaun French helped out
with 10.

 

Bradley 47,
Trinity Christian 39

Charlie Martin lit up the scoreboard for a team-high 16 points, and teammate Jim Taylor had 13 as the Bears slid past the Warriors.

Trinity Christian got to within four points at 42-38 with 2:07 left in the fourth. But the Bears were able to waste some clock and hit enough free throws to seal the win.

The game moved into the final stanza with Bradley up by 10 points.

Rhett Nelson led all scorers with 23 points for the
Warriors.
