PG 66, L-E 54. Pleasant Grove's Stephen Austin bowls over Liberty-Eylau's Anthony Cunningham on Friday at the Rader Dome.

In a game where there weren't easy baskets and nearly every shot was contested, Pleasant Grove shot 50 percent in the second half to pull away from Liberty-Eylau.
The Hawks finished with a 43 shooting percentage on 25-of-58 scoring from the floor, building a 9-point cushion entering the fourth quarter.
PG (14-7, 2-1) held a 38-29 advantage in rebounding and committed 14 turnovers to the Leopards' 21 turnovers.
Liberty-Eylau (12-11, 1-2) shot 37 percent from the field on 19-of-52 shooting.
"This was a total team effort, and we played four complete quarters," Pleasant Grove coach Billy Brewer said. "We made an adjustment on defense in the second half with what they were doing. We know they've got their one main shooter, and we tried to get the ball out of his hands. I was pleased with our effort.
"L-E is a good team. They're going to beat some teams, and they're always going to push you to the limit. This is a big rivalry game, and it was a good atmosphere."
The Leopards trailed 34-31 at intermission and remained within a basket until the Hawks scored five in a row to go up 41-34. L-E hit a 3-pointer twice in the period, but both times Pleasant Grove responded with 5-point outbursts, the second to go up 55-44 and the first double-digit lead of the night.
Jordyn Pineda-Davis closed the third with a pair of foul shots for Liberty-Eylau and opened the fourth with the same made charity shots to make it 55-48. Pleasant Grove, sparked by Connor Ouellette's two baskets and two free throws, rattled off eight in a row to make it a 15-point lead with 5:40 remaining.
"We didn't seem like we could buy a basket late in the game," Leopard coach Marlon Byrdsong said. "Pleasant Grove hit some unbelievable shots, some contested shots, and that's the difference in the game. Our hats go off to Pleasant Grove and Coach Brewer over there; his guys came ready to play and made some great shots.
"With our guys, the effort was there. We did a great job with matching their intensity, but you've got to put the ball in the hole. We couldn't do that tonight, and Pleasant Grove did a good job tonight of putting that ball in the hole."
Ouellette led all scorers with 26 points, Cory Jones added 10 and Xavier Benson pulled down 11 rebounds.
Pineda-Davis had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Decorian Phillips scored 18 points.
Pleasant Grove won the junior varsity game, 50-40, with Terrence Turner scoring 12 points and Tevrin Jackson and Jared Glover adding 11 each. Demond Robinson led the Leopards with 12 points, and Ben Lemmer and Raikeem Harris had 10 each.
L-E rallied to win the 9th grade game, 51-45 in overtime. Kentrell Atkins had 14 points, and Jakeem Butler added 13. Jackson Cobb scored 12 for the Hawks, and Layton Jackson contributed 10.
