Puzz gives PG girls soccer boost in win over Greenville

Pleasant Grove's Brooklyn Puzz, a senior captain, pulled off a hat trick to lead the host Lady Hawks to a 4-2 victory over Greenville Friday in varsity girls soccer action.
Puzz scored her first goal in the first half, getting an assist from Sophia Tuttlebee.
The visiting Lady Lions tied the game at 1-1 at the end of the first half.
Puzz scored in her second goal after she dribbled around the goal keeper and kicked the ball in the net. Again, she was assisted by Tuttlebee, who used a header to find Puzz. Greenville tied game following a PG hand ball in the box that lead to a penalty kick.
The Hawks took the lead for good with five minutes left in the game when Puzz scored her third goal of the game. Katie Hutcheson got the assist.
PG's Haley Hearn drilled in a goal from 45 yards out to make the final score 4-2.
Goalie Avery Jensen had 10 saves for the Hawks.

Boys Soccer

Pleasant Grove 2, Tatum 0
Tristen Williams and Samuel Abuliman booted in one goal, and the Hawks shut out the Eagles at Hawk Stadium.
Connor Crawford and Dillon Williams, who had four shots on goal, made one assist each for Pleasant Grove.
Matt Day, a PG senior, showed off his skills at goalie with 23 saves.
The Hawks' Jungrok Oh, Love Lynx, and Jacob Heminger had one shot on goal apiece.
Pleasant Grove (3-2-1) hosts Spring Hill Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Pine Tree 55, Texas High 46
LONGVIEW, Texas-Pine Tree built a 33-21 halftime cushion and held off visiting Texas High in a District 16-5A varsity action on the Lady Pirates' home court.
The Tigers are 12-12 overall and 4-4 in district while Pine Tree, which has won four in a row, improves to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in league play.
The Pirates' Marissa Gary was her team's lone double-figure scorer with a game-high 29 points, including 13-of-19 from the free throw line.
The Tigers also had one player, Vicki Willis, in double digits with 14 points, and Grace Brooks added nine.
Texas High won the JV game, 34-26, with Sadaya Finley scoring 18 points for the winners. Kay Polk had eight points for THS.

Boys Basketball

Trinity Christian 63, Spring Hill 54
Homestanding Trinity Christian owned the floor in a 63-54 win over Spring Hill.
Reid Sellers led the Warriors (10-10) with 18 points off seven field goals, including two 3-pointers, and 2-of-2 from the line. JR Kemp offered backup with 17 points while Rhett Nelson added an additional 13 for Trinity Christian.
The Warriors outscored the Bears in every quarter; 20-15 after one, 37-30 after two, 56-44 after three, and finally 63-43 when the last buzzer rang out.
Cameron Middleton scored 16 points for Spring Hill and Josh Winfield added 12.
Trinity Christian made five 3-points while the Bears had two.

Subvarsity Boys Basketball

Idabel Tournament
IDABEL, Okla.-Texas Middle School posted a pair of victories to move into the semifinals of the Idabel Tournament.
The Tigers beat Forest Grove, 49-43, behind Braylon Stewart's 26-point performance.
TMS also beat host Idabel, 55-19, with Ben Bepriest scoring 18 points and Rian Cellers 11 for the winners.
The Tigers face Broken Bow at 11:20 a.m. in the semifinals and Heavener at 12:30 p.m. The championship game is set for later this afternoon.
