Texas High boys, girls win district titles

Texas High's boys and girls Tigershark swim teams won the District 16-5A titles Saturday at Texarkana College.
Ohemaa Barnes was named girls' District Swimmer of the Year. Courtney Lourens was girls' District Diver of the Year, and Hunter Burt was named boys' District Diver of the Year.
Alex Jones, Kristen Clayton, Cathryn Payne and Linley Murdock placed first in the girls' 200 medley relay.
Clayton won the 200 freestyle, while teammate Payne was third. Texas High's Haley Wood touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley, Jones was second, Katelin Seidenschwarz completed the Tigershark's sweep of the podium by taking third.
Barnes took gold in the 50 freestyle, Kaylee Norton got the silver, and Linley Murdock the bronze. Payne earned first in the girls' 100 butterfly, and teammate Norton was second.
Murdock brought home the silver in the girls' 100 freestyle, and Serenity Danner placed third. Racheal Sizemore made the podium with a third place finish in the 500 freestyle.
Clayton, Norton, Murdock, and Barnes earned gold in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Barnes, Payne, Wood, and Norton were first in the 400 freestyle relay.
In the 100 breaststroke, Clayton took top honors, followed by Wood, and Liz Formby in third. And on the flip side of the breaststroke, Barnes earned a silver and Seidenschwarz a bronze in the 100 backstroke.
Lourens was the best in the girls' 1-meter dive, while teammate Lauren Potter earned second. On the boys' side of diving, Hunter Burt took gold, followed by teammates Robert Bland and Jacob Mitchmore in second and third, respectively.
Dylan Rosser, Nick Radomski, William Norton and Casey Williams were best in the boys' 200 medley relay. Rosser and Norton went 1-2, respectively, in the 200 individual medley, while Blaze Jones was third.
Williams got the silver in the 50 freestyle, and Robert Frost placed third. Max Young touched the wall in second in the 200 freestyle followed by teammate Owen Likins in third.
Texas High had another 2-3 finish with Norton second and Reid Porter third in the 100 butterfly.
Giovanni Basurto-Ruiz took the gold spot on the podium in the 100 freestyle. Jackson Shellogg was below him with a silver, and Williams held bronze.
Basurto-Ruiz, Williams, Frost and Young brought home the gold in the 200 freestyle relay. Basurto-Ruiz, Norton, Shellogg and Young grabbed gold in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Tigersharks swept the 500 freestyle; Young was first, Likins second, and Matt Francis third.
Rosser took second in the 100 backstroke, and teammate Nate Whittington was right behind in third.
Radomski earned first place honors in the 100 breaststroke, and Jones got the silver.
Texas High has 43 swimmers and divers that qualified for regionals in Lewisville, Texas, on Feb. 3-4.
