Lady Hawks shut out, 10-0, against Pitt

Pleasant Grove's softball team ran into a hot pitcher Saturday at the Lady Hawks' field.

Pittsburg's Kaycee Parker allowed only two hits and struck out 14 in six innings to pitch the Lady Pirates past Pleasant Grove, 10-0.

The Hawks drop to 1-2 in District 14-4A with the loss, while Pittsburg improves
to 2-1.

"Believe it or not we played better defense today," PG coach Becca Collom said. "We just needed to adjust a little better at the plate. We'll get there; we're just young and trying to get better every day. That's all we can do. We get Paris next, so hopefully we can even out at 2-2."

The Pirates combined five hits and three walks for seven runs in the third inning to break the game open. Three more in the sixth resulted in the early ending.

Sydney Waldrep and Taylor Bullock led Pittsburg at the plate with a double and single each. Abbigale Hammonds contributed two singles.

Losing pitcher Kristin Key and catcher Faith Dorsey had one hit each for the Lady Hawks.
