New Boston wins, remains unbeaten

Redwater drops first loss in 14-3A after 6-2 loss

NEW BOSTON, Texas-New Boston took the battle of unbeatens in District 14-3A, taking a 6-0 lead over visiting Redwater during a 6-2 victory Tuesday at Lion Field.

Philip Sissons worked 6 2-3 innings, allowing three hits and striking out 10 for the pitching win. Tyler Strain retired the final batter on one pitch in relief for the Lions (11-3, 5-0).

Strain and Brody Chitwood had a pair of hits each, and Isaac Whittington and Tyler Graham added a single and 2 RBI each.

Peyton Davis had a single and 2 RBI for the Dragons (4-1 district), and Hayden Hackett and Drew Howard added a hit apiece.

Hughes Springs 2, DeKalb 1

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Tristen Jamison pitched a 2-hitter but suffered the loss at the hands of the host Mustangs, keeping DeKalb winless in District 14-3A play.

Brody McEntire picked up the pitching win for Hughes Springs, scattering five hits. Tristin Hickey and Shawn Pope had singles for the Mustangs.

Jamison led the Bears with a triple and single, and Colby Pennington, Logan Corbett and Ty Brown contributed a hit each.

Detroit 6, Avery 5

DETROIT, Texas-The host Eagles roughed up Avery for 11 hits and edged the Bulldogs in a district game.

Avery took a 5-1 lead in the top of the fourth but Detroit scored five unanswered runs to secure the win. Austin Tucker had two RBI on two hits, Austin Stansbury added two singles and an RBI, and Joel Hinson had two singles for the Eagles.

Hunter Gilbert was 2 for 3 with an RBI for Avery. Keith Braun had 2 RBI on a single, and Gage Braden also drove in a run.

Horatio 18, Cossatot River 4

HORATIO, Ark.-Wade Beasley had three hits and seven RBI to help the host Lions thrash the visiting Eagles.

Zach Izzo and Trey Pickett added two hits each for Horatio (8-6, 3-3), and Reece Black drove in four runs.

The Lions play at Kirby Thursday.

 

Nashville 6, Lake Hamilton 0

PEARCY, Ark.-Chris Willard ripped a double and single, driving in two runs to help lead Nashville over Lake Hamilton.

Preston Pope pitched a six hitter.

Austin Bowman roped a double for the Scrappers in the rout.

Nashville travels to Mena on Friday. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

went 2-4 for Linden-Kildare in a losing effort.

She received plenty of offensive support, as Harley Dear went 3 for 3, Emily Sykes had a single, a double and 2 RBI, and Kaitlyn Poe had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Losing Pitcher Emma Parker had a hit and an RBI in a losing effort for the Lady Longhorns.
