Texas High's bats appear to be coming alive just in time for Friday's showdown with Hallsville.

The Tigers (11-8, 3-1), hammered three Greenville pitchers for 10 hits in four innings Tuesday at the THS diamond en route to a 14-0 victory in District 16-5A play.

"This was a good, quality win; this was two games in a row with no errors," THS coach John McClure said. "We want to hang our hat on defense and good pitching, and we got that tonight from (Colby) Adkins. He did a really good job, throwing only 63 pitches."

Adkins scattered four singles, walking one and striking out seven Lions, who tumbled to 0-4 in league action.

Jakob Hearne accounted for all the offense Adkins would need with two doubles, including a three-run two-bagger in the third when the Tigers broke the game open with six runs. Hearne finished with four RBIs, and he also scored twice.

Eric Sutton also had two doubles and drove home three runs, with Rubin Ramirez contributing a two-run double in the fourth. Cole Christen had a double and scored three runs, with Chris Lyles adding a run-scoring single.

"The biggest thing I'm proud of is we're swinging the bat; we had a lot of baserunners tonight and we did an outstanding job of getting them in," McClure said. "Hallsville always has a great time and we've got to go to their place the first round. It will be a battle when we go down there."
