Pleasant Grove made school history.

The Hawks have earned a perfect 10-0 regular season record for the first time ever after a 50-7 win over Gladewater in a District 7-4A football game at Hawk Stadium Friday on Senior Night.

It is the first district championship for Pleasant Grove since 2007.

"It feels really great to be 10-0," Hawk head coach Josh Gibson said. "We have been working with this group since they were incoming freshmen. Their belief and work ethic has been outstanding. We've taken a step each year, and you can't ask for more than a perfect regular season.

"I am thankful for them, proud of them, and I love them. I thank the community for all of the support. We got out to a good start, which is something I addressed earlier in the week. I am proud of all the kids."

Pleasant Grove will play at Tatum at 7 p.m. Friday in its Class 4A, Division II bi-district playoff game.

Senior receiver Carson Cox caught two passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawks. Sophomore quarterback Ben Harmon threw for 236 yards on 5-of-8 passing for PG and four scores.    Bruce Garrett ran for 68 yards on just four carries for the Hawks.

The second half kickoff went to Gladewater, and on its first play, the ball was stripped and recovered by Caleb Porchia.

Chauncey Martin ran it in from 21 yards out to give the Hawks a 47-7 lead.

Later in the third, PG's Dillon Williams connected on a 19-yard field goal to make it 50-7.

The coaches agreed to continually run the clock in the fourth quarter, and the Hawks used their second team players.

Pleasant Grove got off to a hot start in the first quarter. Ben Harmon hit Cox on a 90-yard pass as Cox turned the jets on and outran the defenders.

On the Hawks' next possession, Ben Harmon threw a 60-yard pass to Cox, and PG took a 14-0 lead with 5:36 to go in the first quarter.

The great Hawk defense forced another Gladewater punt. After Bruce Garrett broke off a 27-yard run from the second play from scrimmage, TJ Cole rambled 19 yards to paydirt to give PG a 21-0 lead.

The Bears punted again on their next possession, and the Hawks capitalized with a 30-yard TD pass from Ben Harmon to Aaron Harmon to make it 28-0.

After forcing a fourth punt from Gladewater, the snap went over the punter's head, and Porchia recovered the fumble in the end zone for a Hawk score to make it 34-0.

Gladewater responded with a 9-yard pass from Daniel Badger to T.C. Minter to make it 34-7.

But the Bears tried an onside kick and Pleasant Grove recovered at the 50. Xavier Benson grabbed a pass from Ben Harmon, shook his defender, and ran down the sideline for a 50-yard touchdown.

At the half, the Hawks had 236 yards of passing to Gladewater's 30.
