COACHES' COMMENTS: Texas High's Stanford-"Our first five games were all very physical games, they were close ballgames and highly contested in all of them. It was good in the middle of the season to catch our breath after those five, and mentally and physically just get our minds and legs back underneath us to keep going forward.

"Each week we've improved to a certain extent and certain phases of the game, and that's the biggest thing, as coaches, we're looking at each week, just seeing that progress in every aspect. We have yet to play our best game; our best football is still ahead of us. This week we want to continue to see progress and see a complete game put together, offensive and defense matching the intensity of each other, and special teams matching those as well."

Sulphur Springs' Owens-"We need to be more consistent on offense, and on defense not give up the big play. We've allowed too many conversions on third-and-long and those type of things; we just need to keep the game in front of us and go tackle. My fear, always, is that Texas High has the speed they have.

"Defensively, they always play sound and don't make mistakes; they force you to make mistakes and take advantage. That's how their still playing under Coach Stanford, and how they've always been since I've been facing them. They've got good athletes and do a good job of rallying to the ball.

"We've got to be smart. We had five turnovers (to open up district) against Pine Tree, and last week we had two turnovers and allowed 14 points on punt returns. There are things we can do to improve, figure some of those things out and play fundamental football."
