PG tennis team goes 30-0

Pleasant Grove's tennis team went 30-0 through the District 14-4A tournament to claim the league championship and advance to the area round Thursday in
Longview.

The Hawks swept Pittsburg, Liberty-Eylau and Atlanta, the latter in the finals on Friday at the Texarkana College tennis courts.

In the girls singles, Shannon Lee and Caroline Joyce both won 6-0, 6-0. Wes Humphrey and Clark Giles each won their boys singles matches, Humphrey winning 6-0, 6-2, and Giles posted a 6-0, 6-1 win.

In the girls singles, Joyce and Gracie Higgins won 6-1, 6-0, for the Lady Hawks. Lee and Jisu Choi won 6-1, 6-0, and Tiffany Hoang and Allie Ryan won 6-3, 6-0.

In boys singles, Adam Bone and George Douglas won in a tiebreaker, 6-0, 2-6 (10-7). Humphrey and Ross Wyles posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep, and Giles and Palmer Duke won 6-0, 6-0.
