Redwater beats New Boston, 48-14

REDWATER, Texas-Redwater totaled 487 yards of offense as it rolled past New Boston, 48-14.

Lavondrick Vaughn rushed for two touchdowns-a 70-yarder and a 24-yarder-and threw a 10-yard TD pass to Joe Hendrix to propel Redwater to the win.

Peyton Davis added a pair of scores on runs of 2 and 23 yards for the Dragons, while teammate Jonah Ketchum had the first score of the game on a 9-yard touchdown run.

Jaxon Feemster had a 20-yard TD run for Redwater.

Tyler Strain found Samuel Sanchez from 20 yards out for the Lions' first score with 52 seconds left in the second quarter.

For the last score of the game, Sanchez ran it in from a yard out. Kohde O'Brien grabbed a pass from Strain for a New Boston 2-point conversion.

Redwater (5-2, 2-0) plays at White Oak Friday at 7:30 p.m.

 

Paul Pewitt 36, DeKalb 34

DEKALB, TexasThis game was the close battle it was predicted to be.

Three missed 2-point conversions were the difference in this one, as the Brahmas held on for a 2-point victory over the Bears.

The Brahmas got off to a fast start leading 15-6 after one, and 22-14 at halftime. After a 7-6 third found the Brahmas leading 29-20, the Bears picked it up in the fourth, outscoring the Bears 14-7, but still losing a thriller.

The Brahmas had a strong showing on the ground, rushing for 354 yards, while the Bears were balanced with 173 yards on the ground and 154 yards passing.

Each team also had two turnovers. The Brahmas lost two fumbles, while the Bears had an interception and a fumble, but the Bears were their own worst enemies with the missed opportunities on special teams.

LaJahthan Allen had 4 rushing touchdowns for the Brahmas and DeJaquan Jackson led the Bears with three rushing touchdowns.

 

Maud 40, Detroit 14

DETROIT, Texas-Maud scored 26 points in the fourth quarter to break a 14-all tie to win in dominant fashion over Detroit to take its first District 9-2A, D-II win of the season.

Brooks Minter found the end zone on runs of 12 and 18 as Gage Jones scored on 2 and 21 in the final period to help take the 26-point triumph.

Minter rushed for 168 yards on 24 totes for the Cardinals, and Rayne Bailey and Gage Jones combined for another 87 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 16 carries.

Quarterback Jones started the game with a pass to R.J. Bailey on a 20-yard score, but Detroit answered back on the pursuing drive with a touchdown pass of its own.

 

Rivercrest 26,
Linden-Kildare 21

RIVERCREST, Texas-LaDavian Johnson rushed for 179 yards on 21 tries but it wasn't enough as Linden-Kildare fell to Rivercrest, which has won seven in a row.

L-K's defense allowed 401 yards of offense, but was ultimately in the game until the final score.

With 4:01 left in the fourth quarter, Rivercrest's Kolby Townes scored on a 1-yard run that sealed the win.

Rivercrest scored first in the first quarter, but the rest of the half belonged to the Tigers, who got three straight scores from Johnson and JaKevian Rose. Rose scored on a 45-yarder in the first as Johnson found the end zone on 30- and 92-yard runs in the second quarter to help take a 21-6 halftime
lead.

Rivercrest would score the game's final three touchdowns.
