To win in athletics, you have to complete all facets of your given sport.

Arkansas High (2-2, 0-1) started off fast against visiting Greenwood (4-0, 1-0) in the first half, but penalties and inconsistencies plauged the Hogs in the latter half of the contest.

Arkansas High fell to top-ranked Greenwood at Razorback Stadium on Friday night, 38-17.

"The second half hurt us a bit," Arkansas High head football coach Barry Norton said. "I told the kids that I was really proud of them. Defensively, I thought we played great."

University of Arkansas baseball commit Connor Noland started the scoring for the Bulldogs in the first quarter.

Noland connected with senior wideout Peyton Holt on a 17-yard dart in the first quarter with 10:36 remaining.

Nolan finished the night going 10 for 19 and 157 yards with three touchdowns.

"We talked to our kids about the highs and lows in this game," Norton said. "We put our defense in bad positions and we have to correct that. We can't play teams like this from behind."

Hog kicker Patrick Cook put Arkansas High on the scoreboard with his 19-yard field goal in the first quarter with 4:02 on the clock.

Razorback junior hurler Drake Browning continued to steer the offense north.

Browning connected with Hog wideout Irijah Price for a 20-yard bomb he had to out jump a Greenwood defender to make the one-handed snag with 3:34 on the clock in the first quarter.

Browning finished the night completing 9 of 21 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown.

"The thing we have to learn how to do is to keep fighting and weather the storm," Norton said. "I'm proud of our kids and proud of my coaching staff tonight."

Price finished with eight snags for 123 yards and a touchdown.

Greenwood was not to be denied, however.

Senior tailback Kenny Wood barreled in the endzone for the Bulldogs with 0:13 left in the first.

Wood finished the night with 131 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns.

Greenwood missed two field goals in the first half.

Browning torched the Bulldog defense for a 46-yard run to end the second quarter.

Arkansas High's combo backfield of Browning and junior bulldozer Jordan Hall kept the Bulldogs on their toes defensively.

Hall finished with 15 totes for 89 yards on the ground for the Hogs.

Arkansas High fumbled the opening kickoff in the second half to give the Bulldogs favorable field position.

Greenwood kicker Grant Ennis booted a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter with 10:42 on the clock.

Noland connected with Wood for a 50-yard strike to the Bulldogs on the board with 5:16 on the clock in the third quarter.

"We turned the ball over early in the second half and didn't recover from it," Norton said. "Greenwood has an excellent football team, and if those things don't happen, this is a different ballgame."

Greenwood continued to keep its foot on the gas.

Noland connected with Holt on a 19-yard touchdown pass for the Bulldogs with 1:30 remaining on the ticker in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs kept pounding the ball on the ground throughout the fourth quarter.

Wood banged in a 22-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs with 9:50 left in the fourth quarter.

The Hogs continue Conference 6A play Friday, traveling to Lake Hamilton beginning at 7 p.m.
