Genoa Central wins Dragon Country Invitational

GENOA, Ark.-Genoa Central's junior and senior division cross country teams won the Genoa Central Dragon Country Invitational Saturday.

De Queen's Hector Hernandez won the senior boys' division with a time of 17:55, Genoa Central's Jack Jones placed second with 19:01 and teammate Ryan Whitehead placed third with 19:06.

The Dragons won the senior boys' team division with 15 points.

Genoa Central's Janie Bentley won the senior girls' division with a time of 22:09, teammates Fiamma Delgrosso finished second with 23:03 and Carly Eddy placed third with 23:19.

The Lady Dragons won the senior girls' team division with 15 points.

Ashdown's Josh Linnett won the junior boys' division with a time of 12:15, Genoa Central's Noah Brent placed second with 12:28 and Trinity Christian's Silas Nix finished with 12:37.

The Dragons won the junior boys' division with a score of 27 points and Trinity Christian placed second with 49 points.

Trinity Christian's Macy McLean won the junior girls' division with a time of 13:20, Genoa Central's Donna Jo Rowe finished second with 14:15 and teammate Heather Riley finished with 14:17.

The Lady Dragons won the junior girls' division with 15 points and Prescott placed second with 46 points.

 

THS wins

LONGVIEW, Texas-Texas High's Will Harrell won the boys' division of the Pine Tree Puddle Jump with a time of 16:50.88.

Owen Likins placed third for the Tigers with a time of 17:21.56.

THS placed 5th with 137 points.

The Lady Tigers placed 4th in the womens' 5,000 meter run with 117 points.

The Lady Tigers placed 5th in the junior varsity 3,200 meter run with 183 points.

 

GOLF

Bart Granger Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas-Texas High's varsity golf team traveled to the metroplex to play in the nation's largest high school golf tournament including 52 teams, the Bart Granger Invitational at Fort Worth Pascal.

The Tigers finished 33rd with a team total score 967.

Carter Maneth finished with a score of 228, Matt Prieskom shot 229, Will Patterson finished with 251, Nick Kane shot 260 and Camden Robertson shot 279.

 

TENNIS

PG falls

PRINCETON, Texas-Pleasant Grove's varsity tennis squad fell to Princeton, 19-5.

The Hawks also fell to Anna, 13-11.

Pleasant Grove is back in action on Saturday, traveling to face Center.

 

THS wins

VAN, Texas-Texas High's varsity tennis squad faced off with Corsicana and Tyler Lee on the road.

The Tigers defeated Corsicana, 15-1, in the morning and defeated Lee in the nightcap, 10-9.

Texas High is undefeated this season.

The Tigers travel to Marshall on Tuesday, for a district match with the Mavericks.

 

VOLLEYBALL

DeKalb, Redlick win

NEW BOSTON, Texas-Redlick and DeKalb won the New Boston middle school volleyball tournament.

Paul Pewitt defeated New Boston in the 8th grade contest, 25-7, 25-22.

Redlick defeated North Heights, 25-8, 25-9.

Redlick defeated New Boston 'B', 25-2, 25-5.

North Heights defeated New Boston 'B', 25-8, 25-22.

Redlick defeated Paul Pewitt in the championship, 25-13, 25-15.

Paul Pewitt defeated New Boston in the 7th grade contest, 25-10, 25-21.

Redlick defeated New Boston 'B', 25-21, 25-20.

DeKalb defeated Paul Pewitt, 25-8, 25-19.

DeKalb defeated New Boston, 25-20, 25-9.

North Heights defeated New Boston, 25-16, 25-15.

DeKalb defeated North Heights in the championship match, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20.
