Redwater victorious in sweep; Lady Tigers stumble

REDWATER, Texas-Redwater swept Detroit, 25-16, 25-8, 25-16, Tuesday in a volleyball match at Dragon Gym.

Karley Morris served 19 winners for the Lady Dragons (10-4) and had seven aces and six kills. Karlee Carmony led at the net with 13 kills, Ally Walston had 11 digs and Keeley Wilbur contributed 17 assists for Redwater,
which hosts Liberty-Eylau Friday. Hailey Hoskins served eight for Detroit.

The Dragons won the junior varsity A match, 25-13, 25-10, with Kassidy Warner serving 17 for the winners. Harlee Long had three for the Lady Eagles.

Redwater also won the jayvee B match, 25-13, 25-16, with Payton Trujillo serving 17 points. Ayanna Smith led Detroit with eight points.

 

Lady Pirates roll

GILMER, Texas-James Bowie beat host Union Hill in three sets, 25-20, 26-24, 25-20.

Emily Latham had 12 assists and matched Sarah Bruce with 10 service points each. Jaycee Littleton added five kills for the Lady Pirates (5-3), who play in the Paul Pewitt tournament Thursday.

James Bowie won the junior varsity match, 15-25, 25-23, 25-23, with Emily Maroul serving 10 winners. Gracie Brown had five kills for the Pirates.

 

Lady Tigers fall in four

PARIS, Texas-Treyaunna Rush had 17 kills, seven blocks, 10 assists, 10 digs and 23 service points, but North Lamar defeated Texas High, 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Vicki Willis made 29 digs and served in 16 points for the Lady Tigers.

Texas High's junior varsity fell to the Lady Panthers, 25-12, 25-11. Lauren Allred paced the Tigers with six points on serve.

Vanessa Perez led Texas High with eight service points, but the Tigers' 9th grade fell, 25-19, 25-19.

 

Lady Bears outlast Tigers

DeKALB, Texas-Evette Martinez had 15 assists and four aces as DeKalb defeated Clarksville, 20-25, 26-24, 2518, 30-28.

Kynli Holder put down 24 kills, and teammate Hope Murphy made five digs for the Bears.

DeKalb plays James Bowie at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Paul Pewitt tournament.

 

TENNIS

BENTON, Ark.-Arkansas High's tennis squad defeated Benton, 4-3, Tuesday on the road, splitting doubles and singles play.

Three Hog players won their matches: Nate Price won 8-3, Patrick Cook was victorious 8-1, and Taylor McCoy clipped his opponent, 9-8.

Bryunna Brewer and Taylor Wilkerson defeated Benton, 8-1, in girls doubles.

The Razorbacks' next match will be Thursday, hosting Lakeside at 3:30 p.m.

 

Texas High's varsity tennis team defeated Evangel at home on Tuesday, 11-1.

The Tigers play Frisco and Frisco Reedy on Sept. 8.
