Lady Tigers triumphant

OKLAHOMA CITY-Trey Rush put down eight kills to go with 11 service points and 11 digs as Texas High defeated Morrilton, 23-25, 26-24, 15-5, to earn first place in the silver bracket at the Mount Saint Mary volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Kaitlyn Cross had 11 kills, nine blocks, and five digs, while Olivia Lower spiked down 10 kills and made 10 digs for the Lady Tigers.

Rush had 13 service points, seven kills and 13 assists to lead Texas High to a 21-25, 25-23, 15-6 victory over Springdale in an earlier match. Kaitlyn Cross led the team with 16 kills.

Vicki Willis had eight service points and nine digs, and the Tigers swept Heritage, 25-20, 25-17, in the Tigers' first match of the day. Rush contributed 11 kills.

Lady Backs prevail

Kasey Duncan had 20 service points, 15 kills and six digs as Arkansas High defeated Paul Pewitt, 28-30, 25-19, 25-23, to win the consolation championship at the Paul Pewitt volleyball tournament.

Makenna Ivey had 10 points 14 kills, and three blocks, while Jayda Griffin had eight kills to go with five blocks.

Kaitlyn Fortenberry made 18 assists and served in 10 points for Arkansas High, while teammate Kailey Burns made 14 digs. Erin Wherry added 12 digs for the Lady Backs, and Jamyia Montgomery had 10 service points and five blocks.

Arkansas High defeated Como Pickton, 25-12, 25-16, to earn a chance at the consolation championship.

Duncan and Ivey had 10 kills each, and Sydnee Blackwell had six kills and four blocks for the Lady Backs.

Barry, who had eight service points, and Fortenberry each had 12 assists Wherry added nine digs.

Duncan and Ivey were named to the all tournament.

The Lady Backs play at Benton today.
