Jefferson nabs lion's share of superlatives

Jefferson racked up nine superlatives on the District 7-3A All-District football team, while Atlanta had three superlatives.

Dee Black of Jefferson was named District MVP. T.Q. Jackson was named Offensive MVP, and Defensive MVP was Trace Smith.

Other Jefferson superlatives were Dylan Polver (Offensive Lineman of the Year), Eric Gibson (Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year) and Lyrik Rawls (Defensive Newcomer of the Year). The Bulldog staff was named Coaching Staff of the Year.

Caleb Hamilton of Atlanta was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Mount Vernon's Daniel Arnold was Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Each team produced one player as Utility Player of the Year and Special Teams Player of the Year.

Utility superlatives included Andrew Samples of Atlanta, Mason Vasquez (Hooks), Triston Hickey (Hughes Springs), Kenneth Bell of Jefferson, Max Rutledge of Mount Vernon, Kyle Atkinson of New Boston and Redwater's Garrett Johnson.

Special team superlatives named were Cade Rosser of Atlanta, Logan Murray (Hooks), Collin Cook of Hughes Springs, Jefferson's Landon Fuquay, Trey Honea (Mount Vernon), Dylan Perkins of New Boston and Peyton Davis from Redwater.

Atlanta's Jawan King, Cade Fant, Josh Wiley, Kade Wood, Josh Edwards, Shun Hunter Caleb Coleman, Connor Samples and Keyshawn Easter were all named to the first team.

Hughes Springs was represented by five players on the first team-Nakia Lee, Jace Ratley, Bryce Johnston, Logan Tenbrook and Isaiah Bolden.

Hooks also had five players named to the first team in Dawson Adams, Jemerald Johnson, Cody Mills, Marquiz Estell and Slate Ruth.

Redwater was represented by Peyton Davis and Jacob McCoy on the first team.

Atlanta's Dra Nelson, Jared Cowgill, Tyrell King, Farron Hall, Jacob Nash, Kentrell Andrews, Carson Rich and J.J. Fields each made the second team.

Second-team members from Hughes Springs are Andrew Gaul, Jed Jones, Chandler King, Keyshawn Simmons and Tyson Daigle.

Four players from Hooks-Matthew Estes, Victor Hernandez, Shamar Jefferson and Marc Reiter-were honored on the second team.

Garrett Harp, Matt Williams and James Perry represented Redwater on the second team.

New Boston had Kevon Thompson, Ben Willis, Trent Graham and Aaron Hill named to the second team.
