New Boston boys defeat DeKalb

DEKALB, Texas-Deaundre Robinson scorched the nets for 30 points to lead New Boston to a 68-55 win over DeKalb on Tuesday.

Samuel Sanchez scored 20 points for the Lions.

Logan Corbett paced the Bears with 14 points, while teammate DJ Gray added 13.

Ty Olson scored nine points for the Bears' junior varsity and DeKalb won, 40-24.

DeKalb (7-13, 1-3) plays at Queen City at 5 p.m. on Friday.

 

McLeod 73, Maud 40

MCLEOD, Texas-Zach Prince fired in a game-high 17 points, and McLeod rolled past Maud.

Blake Williams, who hit four treys, finished with 16 for the Longhorns (19-6), and teammate Casey Smith helped out with 11.

Kobe Bonner lit up the nets for 13 points and teammate Silas Murdock added 11 as McLeod won the junior varsity game, 40-14.

 

Linden-Kildare 65, James Bowie 37

LINDEN, Texas-Ty Patterson scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Tigers over the Pirates.

Ja'Kevian Rose, who nailed down three, 3-pointers, finished with 15 for Linden-Kildare.

Jonathan Cody paced James Bowie with 11 points.

 

Magnolia 36, Hope 31

HOPE, Ark.-Points made off free throws provided the exact margin for Hope to fall 36-31 to Magnolia.

Kaydn Roach led the Panthers with 17 points. Tyler Brown complemented with 11 points of his own.

The teams shot evenly from the floor, both hitting 14 field goals.

Jaylon Conway led Bobcats with 14 points.

Magnolia took a noticeable lead in the second, outscoring Hope 14-9 for a four point lead going into halftime.

Free throws were the difference maker with the Panthers shooting 7 of 12 from the free throw line while Hope was 1-of-5.

 

Daingerfield 65, Redwater 45

DAINGERFIELD, Texas-Daingerfield stomped on Redwater, winning 65-45 Tuesday night.

Travanta Rowal led the Tigers with 17 points; Reggie Geter supported with 14 points and Chris Black tacked on 14 points of his own.

The host was consistent on the court scoring 17 points in each of the first three quarters and only letting off slightly in the last to put up 14 points.

The Dragons were led by Spencer Cowgill with 10 points.

Daingerfield travels to Paul Pewitt Friday.

 

Hughes Springs 69, Paul Pewitt 42

HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas-Hughes Springs defeated Paul Pewitt 69-42 in district play.

Chandler King spearheaded the Mustangs efforts with 22 points including four triples.

Hughes Springs (16-6, 3-1) was hot out of the game scoring 24 in the first quarter, and outscored the Brahmas in every quarter by no less than three points.

Paul Pewitt's Treyvonn Powell scored a team high 15 points .

The Mustangs travel to New Boston Friday.

 

Hooks 52, Queen City 37

HOOKS, Texas-Jordyn Pineda-Davis and Riley Hamilton combined for 29 points as Hooks remained unbeaten in District 14-3A play with a win over visiting Queen City.

Pineda-Davis had 15 points and Hamilton 14 for the Hornets (4-0 district).

Alex Carver led the Bulldogs with 11 points.

Hooks travels to Redwater for another district game Friday.

 

Girls

New Boston 65, DeKalb 20

DEKALB, Texas-Hailee Nero poured in 15 points to lead the Lady Lions over the Lady Bears.

Chloe Davis added 13 for New Boston, and McKenzee Thomas helped out with nine.

Janique Betts paced DeKalb with six points.

 

Magnolia 42, Hope 27

HOPE, Ark.-Kendall McMahen hit four treys and finished with 21 points as the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Bobcats.

Kayleigh Sneed scored 13 points for Magnolia.

Andria Curtis had a team-high eight points for Hope, including a pair of shots from downtown.

Hope (1-9, 0-4) plays at El Dorado at 6 p.m. on Friday.

 

Hughes Springs 43, Paul Pewitt 42

OMAHA-NAPLES, Texas-Silvia Montgomery poured in 12 points to lead the Lady Mustangs over the Lady Brahmas.

Pewitt used a 10-4, third quarter advantage to go up by five going into the fourth. Hughes Springs outscored the Brahmas, 14-8, to edge out the win.

 

Redwater 54, Daingerfield 25

DAINGERFIELD, Texas-Bethanee Calicott lit up the scoreboard with 20 points as the Lady Dragons coasted to a district win.

Karlee Carmony helped out with 14 points for Redwater.

Down 21-9 in the fourth quarter, the Dragons' junior varsity came back to beat the Lady Tigers 25-24. Sydney McBride paced Redwater with eight points.

The Dragons host Hooks on Friday in a district matchup.

 

Linden-Kildare 43, James Bowie 35

LINDEN, Texas-Skylar Vaughn fired in 13 points to lead the Lady Tigers over the Lady Pirates.

Siarra Johnson swished in 12 points for Linden-Kildare.

Sheridan Byram, who hit four shots from 3-point land, finished with a game-high 16 for James Bowie.

The Tigers play at Avery on Friday.

 

McLeod 33, Maud 23

MCLEOD, Texas-McLeod's varsity girls pulled away in the final quarter, Tuesday night, to win 33-23 over Maud.

Shelby Davis scored a game high nine points to lead the Lady Longhorns' offense.

The Lady Cardinals stayed on the heels of McLeod for three periods, trailing by one after the first, two after two, and one after three.

In the final period the Longhorns outscored Maud 12-3.

The Longhorns (16-7, 4-2) travel to James Bowie on Friday.
